I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

Arriving in southern Kentucky, sorority girls and other local college students told they would be locked inside a nearby haunted house that treated plague victims years ago find it's being haunted by the ghosts of the deceased there and try to get out of the location alive. This here is a pretty enjoyable film. One of the best things about it is the absolutely creepy location of the hospital as it's among the most chilling haunted houses ever. It's not enough that the backstory to this is creepy already as the actual location it's set at makes for a perfect fodder for these kinds of films, but to mix it with a terrifying location just makes it the absolute best. The hallways are dark, dirty, unclean and terrifying, appearing to go on for miles off into the darkness, which is always quite fun, while the different rooms where there's plenty of creepy goings-on inside their gives it a lot of fun here. The fun premise here is not to be outdone by the creepy factor here, which uses the traditional college initiation factor mixed with the haunted house-style location that actually has a secret purpose, but this is all done with such a creepy and generally oppressive tone that makes it all the better with the fact that all of them are tormented by different shock tactics. There's always the quick shock cuts of seeing ghostly figures wandering around in the background or flinging objects at them which prove to be hallucinations get some chills into an already creepy film. The few times where outside noises are used make it even better, since it pops up when there's nothing else to be heard and really adds a great feel to this one. There's also the fact that it plays around with classic ghost movie scares to make it feel even more creepy and terrifying, as the shower hallucination is top-notch, a couple of scenes where the ghosts go on major stalking rampage in the second half banging around on the walls, appearing as a character's reflection in a mirror or someone barely catches notice of a ghostly figure running by in the background really helps to not only add to that creepiness but give it some solid haunting action leading into the final half. The few kills in here aren't that bad getting in some needed gore, and with the shower scene here giving it a really nice bit of nudity, all make the film somewhat watchable and enjoyable, but there are a couple of problems with it. The main one here is the absolutely disjointed plot line it has. While it is a novel idea to have the film continuously go back-and- forth between three or four different points in time during the course of the film to try to explain what's going on, instead of simplifying things they make the film even less understandable. The jumping back-and-forth between the several different time-periods at random intervals no less makes this nearly impossible to comprehend, and that would be the big problem with it all as it makes them seem all the jumbled around for no reason. This is the main part of this one's flaws.Rated R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence and Nudity.

Look, let's not dance around the simple fact that this film is the most awful film you could possibly watch. There is not a single part of the film I enjoyed... in fact within the first 16 minutes I wanted to get up and walk away; however unfortunately I made the grave mistake of staying thinking "it can't possibly get worse"... "it must get better" but I was wrong. DO NOT BUY THIS FILM! It's not worth your time never mind your money. So now I'm writing for the sake of it since there needs to be a minimum of 10 lines in the review and quite frankly the film is not worth 10 lines describing how terrible it is. If you were to have a sh*t, then eat this sh*t throw it up, eat it and then sh*t it out again it would be a more pleasant experience than watching this film, I beg you not to get this film, you WILL regret it.

Oh, I'm sure that at first glance the cover poster wit the woman in the gas mask draws those post-apocalyptic and virus-type film fans in, but photoshopping a gas mask onto something doesn't make it a good movie. Death Tunnel sounded so cool to me at first with its description...After the first few minutes I was ready to run outside to the coal mines behind my house and scream. What an awful movie! What is it with horror movies made in the 21st century with these stupid women in tank tops dancing at the bar? I don't understand! And the acting, terrible! They really scraped the bottom of the barrel, I've seen high school drama classes do better! The soundtrack was horrible, special effects even worse, and the most pathetic of all was how they tried to give the into a vintage film look and failed miserably.Stick with The Crazies (1973), Warning Sign (1985) or the Omega Man (1971) if you're a fan of biohazard films. Don't bother watching this.

This dry trashterpiece is so boring it will make you think you've been hit by a tranquilizer dart. It takes an infamous haunting "hot spot," (a sanatorium where many people died of a plague in the '30's) along with stories surrounding the place, and takes this potentially interesting theme nowhere for 90 painful minutes. Think of a bland shade of gray on a carpet that stretches out to the horizon in all directions: that's how exciting this film is. Five groupies, who look and dress like Madonna on a cheap drunk, are at a party, then we see them moaning inside the sanatorium (shall we rip off Saw, anyone?). Then they start to scream endlessly. The acting is atrocious: but in all fairness, they weren't given anything to work with, either. The plot, if you want to call it that, inches along slower than a dead caterpillar, and cheap "loud noise" moments fail to scare the smallest child in the audience. A dull mono-tonal soundtrack forever drones on in the background, and the sets lack any creativity of design. The same flashing pictures of rotting 8 mm film clips and browned newspaper clippings are used like a machine gun, but it fails to conceal the fact this movie has absolutely nothing going on. Then there's that "distorted voice of evil," also used poorly.Making "finger puppet" shadows on the wall would be scarier than this turkey.
