It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

There seems to be a strange misconception among young, wannabe filmmakers that horror films are the easiest genre to tackle in order to get noticed. While this was very much true in the past, nowadays it's not the easy gateway that it once was, primarily because it's nearly impossible to come up with an original idea or a satisfying enough twist on a familiar one to warrant an entire film being made.Echoes is the kind of flat, uninspired film that only seems to have been made to prove that writer/director Nils Timm could make one. It made no difference to him that it's a massive pile of clichés or that its story makes little to no sense. The problem is that it will make a big difference to those unfortunate enough to sit through it, for they will be treated to a lazily-written film that has nothing to offer anyone looking for a little bit of thrills and chills. At the very least, viewers will be able to play the "plothole game," where you simply add up the number of inexplicable events as the film goes on, including why someone would build a glass house in the middle of the desert, why this couple would want to go stay there, why Anna would choose to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere in her condition, and many more. It's not that it's a badly made film, but rather that the screenplay was simply a mess and it's thanks to this lazy and amateurishly-written screenplay Echoes is nothing but a bland horror (if you can call it that) offering that is more likely to bore you rather than give you the slightest chill.Clichés don't have to be a bad thing if they can be used well, but writer/director Nils Timm seems to be using them whenever possible just because he can't come up with something more original. This leaves us with a film that we feel as though we've seen several time before, concluding with the ultimate insult to the audience in its last few seconds. This is definitely a film to avoid.

Yes if you have seen the odd horror movie you probably can guess where this is going early on. Still it's overall decent and has a very beautiful main actress in Kate French. She may not have the chops to elevate anything in this movie (no pun intended), but at least you won't mind looking at her.Even when she goes mental or at least starts seeing things. It takes a while for the movie to actually get into gear and there is no nudity (in case that's what you're looking for), the shock moments are OK and there is a small appearance of a former "Lost Boy" that is a nice touch, even if it's almost too short to count. I've seen worse, but I've also seen way better

I watched the movie without having any expectations, it is definitely not my "go to" genre of film, but I somehow found myself watching it without having to turn it off 5 minutes in. I can say, I was quite pleasantly surprised. The suspense was captivating and the story line was unpredictable, which kept my attention. Great location, beautiful camera work and it didn't hurt that Kate French was in it.I won't put any spoilers on here, but I was surprised by the conclusion of the movie and I am sure you will be too.The movie could have been a little faster paced and more up beat in my opinion, however, I think for the genre of film that it is, it was appropriate.

Frankly I did not expect much when I came across this film, as I was drawn to watch it merely for the fact it is shot in Joshua Tree, which is one of my favorite spots to visit. I must confess I enjoyed this movie a lot and it kept me on the edge of my seat, although it is not packed with horror which I expected. The movie is rather a thriller with supernatural elements, which is more my personal taste anyway so this wasn't a disappointment to me. The performances were surprisingly decent, although I at times found it hard to believe the romantic relationship between the two lead characters. In the first half hour of the movie the pace was is bit slow, but the visuals really makes up for this and then it turns into a great story with a few nice twists.
