Highly Overrated But Still Good

Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

It looked like another Sheena/Xena/Amazonian adventure, complete with leather tutu. What it turned into dropped off the category of "mindless entertainment" into something I found painful to watch -- at different points, I wasn't sure it was the same movie. Anachronisms abound. The current score of 4.9 appears the result of ratings at both ends of the spectrum, and not much in the middle.

There was a time that flicks were popular if they had swords in them, remember Conan (1982), Red Sonja (1985), but they were the popular ones. Of course back then you still had those grindhouse theatres all over town and there you could catch flicks like She.The first minutes you could easily see how ultra low budget this flick was. You don't watch it for the acting performances or effects used, you watched it for stupid stories and conversations. Of course some became a bit of cult like She. This is due Sandahl Bergman being in it as She who had a rather good career after this flick and of course Gordon Mitchell notorious for this kind of flicks. You will have a big laugh if you see how serious it was made but to see the man with green eyes and the effects used it's all outdated. Or the Russian symbols used and the swastikas. Nobody had any trouble with it back then. There's a bit of red stuff here and there but all done on stupid base. A perfect example of a genre just like flicks taking place in concentration camps which never came back because both were so wrong on ethics. Luckily for the geeks it's out on DVD, just see the cover and you immediately knows what you will get, nothing at all, but great fun to see it nowadays, but only for lovers of that particular genre. B Grade movies of all time!!!! A whole list of freaks as long as your arm enter & leave as the heroes journey from point A to point F with rapid fire stopovers at points B, C, D & E, but it's all in good fun. Brainless without being brain-numbing, which explains why I must have seen this movie about 10 times & never been bored.I wonder if you could turn this movie into a drinking game?? Say every time something stupid happened, though you'd be drunk within 15 minutes of the movie starting!!!! Still, many careers are started in B Grade classics like this. For example, this was an early role for the athletic Sandahl Bergman who played She. Bergman went on to have quite a respectable career as an actress. Alas, her sidekick, (the pretty Quin Kessler) & the love interest (David Goss) soon faded from public view along with their aspirations to conquer Hollywood's silverscreen (I wonder what did happen to them??) When a film-maker realises that they have no money, a silly script & a cast of actors who's only claim to being an actor is that they have paid their union dues but they are still determined to have a good time making a movie, you end up with She.Final word of warning, if your friends are in anyway discerning about their movies & insist on A Grade releases only, then they may hate you forever if you make them watch this.

This is an hysterical romp, a mix of Conan and Mad Max, made with a lot of colorful, unfinished ideas, mixed up in a total mess, a bad movie that is fun to watch because you ever know what will come next. In this, it is a great Z-movie, almost fun as Plan 9 from outer space, but if you search for a serious sword and sorcery clone, stay away. For fun of B-movies only
