Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

Originally realesed under the title Within, The Cavern is a perfect example of how to fail as a Cave Horror movie. The plot is, once more, just the same old repeat as we got used to as these kind of movies surfaced. A group of cavers want to go into a cave, peferably unexplored, simply because... well, why not, right? For more than 90 minutes the audience has every right to feel offended. The acting does not convince at all, the lighting may be close to reality but doesn't work for a movie like this, pretty much every dialogue is useless and then we also have these edless orgies of shaky cam madness. And I get it. It has to be in there to hide almost everything, because this 150,000$ budget atrocity had no savings left for any kind of intelligent writing nor at least a few decent visual effects. Plus the ending is a total rip off of one specific scene in The Hills Have Eyes. This is so bad, that it never should have been made!

If you want to waste precious time of your life, then watch this movie. Stupid story, bad photography, bad acting and so on. I really wonder how it is possible, that people put money in making such a bad movie. Even that actors want to participate in it. Unbelievable... They must be the ones in desperate need for some money. I have seen many movies. Good , bad, stupid, uncreative, fascinating, compelling, intriguing, moving, and whatsoever you Can feel through them. But this one tops all of them in being boring, dull, and leaving you completely unsatisfied. Leaving you with a feeling: Did I really waste time of my life watching this??? Am I so stupid??? If it would have been possible to rate in under 0, I would have giving it a -10!! It will be difficult to find something to waste your lifetime in a more unsatisfying way. Go look for something else!!!

This movie started off boring and lost my interest before people even started getting killed off. At some point some one died and I started watching it again only to become bored once more. Also in this movie we see some truly god awful camera work, characters randomly pulling out guns from no where when they are on a caving expedition and we later find out the baddie is just one normal cave dwelling man who is somehow able to have perfect dark vision, rip people to pieces either with his bare hands or his spears(first how does he manage that, and second how did he even craft them?) and he also has the ability to move perfectly silently through waist high water. The movies only way to try and make the bad guy scary is by never showing you him until the very end and flashing random lights on and off, killing anyone who suffers epilepsy (also I don't know how they made it look so much like a disco with supposedly only three torches/ flashlights) In the end I guess the film maker realised just how much hate mail they would soon be getting and in an attempt to try and redeem themselves they shot a final scene where we get a half baked description of the creatures origins and a random cave man rape scene where for no reason at all we get more flashing lights that gave our poor camera man a seizure thus providing yet more terrible camera work.I would say the best part of this movie was when the cave man had his way with a young girl no one cares about and wishes died off earlier in the film (considering this scene was terrible it speaks volumes about the rest of the movie). This was the best scene though mostly because the credits follow a few seconds afterwards.

First of all, the set up was terrible. Cave enthusiasts go into the Kazakhstan wilderness? Why? Then the film wastes another 25 minutes or so setting up the characters background and motivation? WHY? The camera work was laughable, constantly panning left to right and in some cases directly into light sources, burning the audiences retina. Give me a break I turned it off after I witnessed the VERY FAKE computer generated fire coming from the fire pit. Then I turned it back on the next day to see how bad it could get, I shouldn't have. The cave was unconvincing, the audio was just passable, the camera lenses KEPT changing, soft blur, HD, on and on. In some cases they blocked the lens (probably with cardboard cut out) so you could only see 1/8 of the picture. For crying out load Sony Pictures, what the hell. Then the "creature" locks them in from the outside, then how the heck does he get in!!!!! Oh, also he has super human strength we are led to believe, because he can move boulders over 2 ton. What ever, its the biggest pile of crap I forced myself to watch for sometime, there is just that much wrong with it I could write a book. But why bother. You have been warned.
