On December 21, 2012 four strangers on a journey of faith are drawn to an ancient temple in the heart of Mexico. For the Mayans it is the last recorded day. For NASA scientists it is a cataclysmic polar shift. For the rest of us, it is Doomsday.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This movie feels like it was written by 2 directors who had different reasons to why the world was coming to an end and then decided to end it with just the one reason.Planet Earth is for some reason being affected by the gravitational pull from the super massive black hole in the center of the universe, resulting in spontaneous global catastrophes. These events were already prophesied by the Mayans, however despite this being a cosmic event there is a safety off button in the form of a baby being born at an altar in one of the ancient Mayan temples accompanied by God's messengers. There's much Christian dribble being spewed about that it just makes you want to cringe. The Christians are portrayed as stereotypical airheads full of smiles who act like they're high on drugs even though the world is falling apart under their feet and debris in the form of silly string is falling from the sky.Despite at the end the baby is delivered at the right place at the right time accompanied by 4 skeptic "messengers", the rapture has already taken place. Planet Earth is no longer being affected by the super massive black hole and everyone who's left behind gets to continue to live their lives minus the Christian evangelists... YAHOO!!!!!! Actually this is probably one of the best ever endings which is why I've given this movie a rating of 2 instead of 1.I don't need to say anything about the special effects as there's already plenty of venom being spewed over just how awful they are, and the same goes for the poor acting.

I won't judge anyone for making a propaganda film made to cash in -or in this case, to convert in on- the premise of the 12/21/12 doomsday prophecy. But seeing this movie was PAINFUL. The script was ridiculous, the acting BAD and the sets and props cheesy. Combine this with the preachy, preachy, preachy message and it was all I could do not to hit myself for renting it. But once it was over I thanked god for helping me survive the sheer stupidity, and as well for the video store staying open until midnight. I turned it back in and found something that took the bad taste off my brain. In the future I will definitely be checking the storyline details more thoroughly before renting or buying any film. My advice to those thinking of seeing this piece of religious exploitation is to save their money.

AAAAaagggh. Actually, that's better than what you get from this piece of crap. What a waste of my 1.5 hours. Summary should be rewritten to include the "god message". This movie would be fine on Vision Network or some such crap, but it has no place on SciFi or Space. There's no science fiction - it's Anti Sci-Fi with that stupid god message splattered throughout. Acting so bad it can't even be campy, effects that don't make any sense and a plot we've all seen or heard before - which nobody with half a brain would sit through had we known what was coming. The only reason I watched to the end was in the hope that a tsunami or lightning bolt would wipe them out in the end. No such luck. Everyone who has wasted their time - even one minute - should join a legal action against whoever created this trash. Deserves zero votes. Not even a "Rotten Tomato".

(Sorry about my pauper English.)What can I say...??? I think the film is not so bad as the reviews says. I liked this one more than Marshall's 2012. I mean: do you need hundred millions of dollar just to say the rich people will safe their asses meanwhile I'll die because I'm poor??? Well... trust me I know it so far.... I found a review of Doomsday which said: "On the other hand, I must say that Nick Everhart gets direct the movie as if it were a larger production budget, if it were not mounted with the ass, with an irregular rhythm in which the scenes of "apocalyptic threat" are interrupted by jam endless conversations about God. Hour and a half boring until the stones." I agree with the most of that. This film has bad actors, a strange story (I didn't understand at all),bad effects (the snow doesn't looks real) and please, don't talk about the inexplicably ending.... Anyway Nick did a great work. In somehow I liked it. And some people are discussing if there were Christians in America before Columbus arrived???!!! Come on!!! it's just a film!!!! It's just fantasy!!!! Who cares????
