Sorry, this movie sucks
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Levante Guarini (Leonardo Pieraccioni, also director) lives in a sleepy town in Italy, where nothing ever happens. Then one day a bus with six beautiful flamenco dancers from Spain arrive and nothing is the same.Il Ciclone from 1996 is a terribly funny Italian comedy.I found myself laughing at loud more than once.I watched it in the Italian class with a group of other students on Monday last week and I noticed I wasn't the only one laughing. Some of the moments that made me laugh were the awkward moments Levante had with his love interest Caterina (Lorena Forteza). Also the language barrier between the Italians and the Spanish offers some funny moments. This movie is a gem of European cinema. The Italians got it.You just watch this film and you'll come to the same conclusion; the Italians got it.
First of all let me say that I had to think a lot about writing a comment for this movie. The best review for this kind of Cinema can be just the silence. Movie addressed to housewives and to grandmothers. This movie tries to look "genuine" and the characters should be supposed "real people". An Italian could never think that the characters might be "real": they are just "low-profile" stereotypes. It gives a very misguised vision of what life is in the Italian countryside. The plot is weak (plot? which plot?) and the humour does not make laugh anyone older than 12.
I loved this movie when I saw it in Italy two years ago. It ranks with the best of the recent Italian films I've seen (e.g. Il Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Mediteraneo, Il Postino). I've been anxiously waiting for it to be released in the United States so I can urge all of my friends to see it. It is a charming tale about a collection of sympathetic characters, with good music and lovely visuals. See it if you get the chance.
Thus movie is a very light romantic comedy, that has a good story. It transports you to that little town and even helps you relate with every character in the movie. I just loved it. It also shows how even a small thing ( the broken sign) can affect the lives of so many people. US movies don't take risks and are very shallow
