It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

In this fourth instalment of cult series Fantozzi's monkey-like daughter Uga gets pregnant, causing quite some trouble for her miserable father, at one point Fantozzi even gets castrated! There are some truly unforgettable characters in this film, such as the homeless philosopher with the hairiest armpits ever. Women find his charm irresistible and men find his smell unbearable! It's really nice to spot TV host and actor Michele Mirabella, who's occasionally appeared in 80's gory horror films(his face was eaten by tarantulas in The Beyond by the great Lucio Fulci and you can also spot him in small roles in Demons 2 by Lamberto Bava and Baba Yaga Kiss Me Kill Me by Corrado Farina) in a supporting part.

Despite being the fourth of the series (and you all know how easy is for followups to become stagnant and tiresome) this episode of the adventures of "ragionier" Fantozzi is funny and well conceived: slapstick comedy, surreal situations, and the usual social satire and performance from the actors that made Fantozzi a cult.If you want to understand the true nature of Italy and Italians in the seventies and eighties, I strongly suggest seeing these movies: they were surely inspired by real life stories.Newer Fantozzi movies, there are like 4 of them, are decent comic films but they cannot match this and the previous ones (with maybe the exception of "Superfantozzi", a history of the world that I don't consider as being really part of the series).

This is a very funny movie, like all the Fantozzi Series. Paolo Villaggio is a great actor... I hope he will continue making some other movies of Fantozzi! Fantozzi represents a medium man, with a not so nice job, that is always not well treated from his friends and that doesn't have a strong personality, in an Italy of problems.
