Madea Goes to Jail (2009)
After a high-speed car chase, Madea winds up behind bars because her quick temper gets the best of her. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Josh Hardaway lands a case that's too personal to handle: that of a young prostitute and former drug addict named Candace. When Candace winds up in jail, Madea takes the young woman under her protective wing.

Admirable film.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Absolutely LOVE Madea! Wish I had someone like her in MY family! Lol. Amazing movie, great storyline, really funny with a heartfelt story mixed in. Truly a good movie!
Joshua Hardaway seemingly has it all. That way of thinking changes when he runs into somebody that meant very dear to him, Candace, His girlfriend Linda gets fed up and tries to ruin Candace. Meanwhile, Madea runs out of chances and is sent to jail. Honestly? I didn't think this movie was all that. I'm a Madea fan, but this movie is a bit overpraised for my liking. It piles on the melodrama and I wasn't as emotionally involved as I should have been. It's a typical Perry story, but it does have some good things in it. I like Tyler because he can laugh at the raunchy things, while maintaining his beliefs. He can let loose and have fun. His passion is evident and I really like him. Josh and Candace's story is sweet and heartwarming. I also enjoyed Linda's character. (Ion Overman) for a while. I didn't think she was "truly" evil. I just thought she was like a lot of people. She doesn't understand what it means to be less fortunate. I really disliked how they went OTT with her and made her do despicable things. It didn't ring true for me. It felt like they were trying to add more melodrama for the sake of it. I was disappointed that Perry resorted to such clichés. Madea being in jail is amusing, but not as funny as you may think. I don't mind this movie. It's just not one of my favorites. If you wanna see some great work from Perry, check out "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" , "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" , "Good Deeds" "Family That Preys" , among others. 5.5/10
I was busy getting ready for the Holiday meal preparing when Madea came on television, it takes a lot to grab my attention but this did. I found this movie to be funny, serious, silly, and a pure joy. I really enjoyed the back to common sense writing mixed in with the crazy antics of a silly senior citizen. Since I've seen this movie I've begun watching all of the crazy antics of Madea, a true pleasure! I look forward to more of Tyler Perry's writings, and please keep it fun and clean like it is now.A fun watch for sure!
I'm really not sure why this film is getting such a bad rep. on IMDb, but the general public LOVED this one. What a winner! The two different plots in the this film were brilliant! This way, the movie had a little bit of everything. The whole time I was on the edge of my seat. I wouldn't say the two different stories "meshed" well, but there was a great moral to be learned. My favorite thing about this movie, and all of Tyler Perry's films, is the wonderful "feel good" mood they leave you in. His productions can always brighten the day. Enough said, this movie was more than satisfactory. Some people are clearly just too hard to please.
