This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

I wonder how could Fanaa be such a great film. After 10 years of its release I saw it & I m spellbound. Kajol has looked the most beautiful ever in this film & Aamir is so charming. You actually fall for Rehan specially those Shayari sequences.Kajol & Aamir were brilliant as usual & their chemistry is so great. While watching Fanaa I didn't realize I was watching Kajol & Aamir. They transformed into Zooni & Rehan completely.Thanx Kunal Kohli. Its even better than HT.Tabu Rishi Kapoor & Kirron Kher were great.Music is so beautiful & background music is too good & suits the film so much.Everything is great about this film.I just wished Zooni had not shot Rehan in the climax.A painful yet a beautiful story.Zooni & Rehan spent some 7-9 days in Delhi & some 9-10 days in the second half.Yet they loved each other.I actually started believing in love after watching Fanaa.Go & watch it if u haven't.You will be smitten.Kajol & Aamir's best performance according to me.And yes they have become my favorites.Wish they come back in a film soon.

Fanaa was a commercial success upon its release a little less than a decade ago. It was Kajol's well-awaited comeback to movies after a five-year hiatus, and that's how it was mainly promoted. It was the first movie in which Kajol and Aamir Khan where pitted against each other, and sadly nothing between the two of them really works. There's little chemistry, little understanding, and the relationship is left to the big songs. In the end we are left with a story so feeble and uninteresting that one would wonder why the hack an actress of her caliber chose it. Fanaa is one of those pretentious potboilers which want to be seen as poetic but then they have so little to offer on their own. The story is melodramatic and unconvincing, and all the tough job is given to Kajol, of whom naturally so much was expected. And thankfully, she doesn't disappoint. Even within the limits of a weak script (and a badly written role), Kajol rises above it to deliver a heartfelt, fully complete performance. There's something about this lady - she comes across extremely real and does so little to convey big emotions. She is always relatable, and never a star. This movie really shows why this natural actress is one of the most popular in the country and appeals so much to the masses. And then we have Mr. Khan, who suddenly looks overly jaded and old, and the terrorist part of his character was so amusingly amateurish and poorly done that no one would take this nonsense character seriously anyway. Fanaa has nice music and no story, it also wastes the talent of Tabu, Rishi Kapoor and Kirron Kher. In the end, Kunal Kohli, who was responsible for the wonderful Hum Tum, disappoints big time with this silly, silly film.

First of all I'd like to praise the production team for coming up with such a good script. The director, Kunal Kohli, deserves all the praise in the world for doing such a great job here. Technically, the film is great; there's a great script, great screenplay, cinematography and acting.Aamir has given one of his finest performances in recent times. Kajol has given her best performance of the decade here. Rishi Kapoor and Kirron Kher are also good in their roles. The music of the film is great, and the best song has to be 'chand sifarish'- one of the best love songs you'll ever listen to.Verdict: Watch it for the story, Aamir and Kajol. I give it 9.5/10

'Fanaa' may be the kind of film that looks good in paper but the execution to screen is just plain awful. Kunal Kohli 's movie looks like a parody of Mani Ratnam's classic 'Dil se'. Of course Kohli loads 'Fanaa' with too much 'masala' (spice) and sugar. For the most part the film is unintentionally funny with it's overdone action sequences, very badly written dialogues, syrupy romantic scenes, annoying background music, poor special effects and what not. After every few seconds, someone would be screaming 'Ya Maulaaaaa' in the background. The songs are pleasant to the ears but, with the exception of 'Mere Haath Mein' and maybe 'Des Rangeela', they are forgettable. I don't see what's so great about the overrated 'Chand Sifarish' which is constructed of horrendous lyrics albeit the tune is hummable. There are so many things in this movie for which Kohli cannot be easily forgiven but why on earth did an actress of Tabu's calibre agree to play such a terrible role instead of throwing the script at the director's face? This is among her worst career-choices. Aamir Khan is hilariously bad. His caricature terrorist does provide some unintentional laugh out loud moments especially in sequences where he's dramatic. Rishi Kapoor is equally ridiculous and annoying too. There is this child actor who makes you cringe so bad that you feel like strangling him or wishing that he had been thrown off the cliff along with Rishi Kapoor. The best thing about 'Fanaa' is Kajol who is the only person that acts plays her part with gusto and grace and the result is a fine performance. But how much can just one great performance can do for what is an overall horrendous boring film.
