A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Critters 4 I love El Rey network because they're always showing strange stuff like this fun little movie. And I'm pretty sure Jason X, the Friday the 13th movie that takes place in space, totally ripped off the plot of Critters 4. I think they're both put out by the same studio which makes it even funnier but whatever. Like I was saying before, this is a stupid but fun movie. I can not believe IMDb is ranking it so low. I am going to slap a ten out of ten on this ranking just to balance out the average.

So, I took forever to get around to watching Critters 4. Big fan of the first two, and despite knowing beforehand this one was only marginally better than the abysmal 3rd entry, I am still disappointed. At the outset, it all looks so promising, the Crites are back in their natural habitat, space, doing what they do best, chowing down on hapless humans. Well, at least that's what the DVD cover would have you believe. But in reality, Critters 4 should have been subtitled, "No Crites on set", as you hardly ever see the Crites and even when you do, their kills and banter is very unoriginal and just not very fun to watch. Critters 4 takes a darker route than it's comedy horror predecessors, but the humour is half the fun of Critters films, in 4, the humour is nullified to non existent levels apart from a few "Insane computer" jokes that fell flat. Once the fun is removed, and the Crite action, you are left with a plodding, dull as dishwater, 1 and half hour movie that has very little to redeem it. Whilst I really dislike the 3rd film, at least that one didn't go out of it's way to ruin already established fan fave characters, such as Ug. Yes, Critters 4 is a turgid movie, even for fans of the series, but worse, it commit's the ultimate sin, it destroys the awesome character Ug, who has been built up over the series into one of my all time fave sci fi characters. In this film, you find out that Ug is no longer a bounty hunter, nor is he generally a nice guy now, now he's a murderous bureaucrat who wants to preserve the Crites for use as bioweapons, instead of kill them. The sudden and unexplained changes in Ug's character leave a bad taste in your mouth. Also, the underwhelming use of the best character in the series, Charlie, leaves a lot to be desired. Once again Don Opper is brilliant as Charlie, but, he has nothing to work with. The characterisation and dialogue is very uneven. Even as a Critters fan, I can't recommend this film to anyone. I hope this is the last. No reboots, no further watered down, below par sequels, unless the Chiodo brothers get back involved. Critters, it's been a fun 30 years, but all good things must end.

I don't get what all the fuss is about, the movie was great! I mean, yes, it was a bit slow starting...but you HAD to be introduced to the story, didn't you? Myself, I think this movie is underrated and should have more stars. I mean, yes, Ug turns bad, but that will actually make a good story if you think about it. However, I didn't enjoy it when Ug died. Ug dying is the reason I didn't rate it 10/10, and I also didn't rate it 10/10 because it was a bit slow starting. But then again, how can that make the movie 4/10???? This movie is so underrated! This movie deserves way more stars than it has, and so do the previous Critter movies. Critters should be 7.9/10, Critters 2 should be 7.6/10, Critters 3 should be 7.5/10 and this movie, Critters 4, should be 6.9/10. But definitely not 4/10!!! This movie deserves way more positive reviews, and is just begging for a sequel when Ug comes back to life. Trust me, the Critters series will be saved when another sequel comes out. That's all we need. A Critters 5.

After locating the last two Crite eggs in an abandoned apartment complex, bounty hunter Charlie McFadden is contacted by fellow hunter Ug who stops him from destroying the eggs, stating that they are the last of the species & that a specimen collection pod will shortly arrive. Charlie places the eggs in the pod but is accidentally trapped inside the pod which takes off & drifts through space for the next fifty years. In 2045 a salvage crew on their way home from a mission stumbles upon the pod. The crew are told by their superiors to travel to a nearby space station in order to receive payment – as well as not to breach the pod. But once they arrive, they find that the station has been abandoned & that some top-secret experiments have been performed inside its labs. The nuclear reactor is also on the verge of meltdown. As they wait for help to arrive, the crew accidentally free the Crites & Charlie, is shocked at how long he's been in space. As the Crites begin to attack the crew, Charlie & the surviving crew must band together to destroy the Crites once & for all.The Critters series has been one of New Line Cinema's cult franchises – the original made a motza on VHS afterlife in 1986 while the three sequels that followed have been somewhat less than impressive (indeed they are being regarded as laughing stocks by most mainstream & cult genre reviewers) but still made money. This fourth & last instalment was one of two DTV sequels made to end the series for good (although rumours of a remake have been floating around for a while) & returns stars Don Opper & Terrence Mann to their trademark roles for one last time.A number of 1990s' sci-fi & horror franchises have set their final chapter in space as some sort of novelty setting in order to kill themselves off for good. Not just Critters 3 but also HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE, PROJECT SHADOWCHASER III & the fourth Leprechaun film. In most of these, the setting is a sort of death blow to the franchise. With Critters 4, this proved particularly true – the series has stayed silent for the next twenty-three years. As far as things go, Critters 4 is a routine ALIEN clone posing as a Critters sequel. The action takes place on a large space station, there is a small crew who are mostly moaning about their paycheques & their superiors want the save the monsters for weapons research. Some of the writing seems rather primitive in terms of motivation – Anders Hove's captain tries to rip off the pod only to release both Don Opper & the Crites – and Eric DaRe tries to steal an entire pharmacy only to die a moralistic death. The film has some reasonably good acting from all involved, especially from Angela Bassett & Brad Dourif (Chucky himself) who give their roles a certain dignity. The sets look okay & the models have been mostly recycled from other films. For a Critters sequel, this one is strictly average but has a certain charm about it that belies its cheap mercenary budget.
