There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I like Irrfan Khan's movies in general and I was looking forward to Madaari. Unfortunately it did not get much of a run at the box office.I watched this film today on You Tube thanks to whoever uploaded it. The plot is unusual, very real yet quite a bit exaggerated and one can not imaging this scenario playing out in real life as depicted in the movie. Nevertheless it is extremely watchable.Irrfan, Jimmy Shergill and Vishal the little boy, do a superb job. The sets, the cinematography, everything was very good. Yet that little bit of zing was missing, though I cant quite put my finger on exactly what that is.All in all, Madaari is very watchable, a story that ordinary folk can relate to and one that politicians and bureaucrats will undoubtedly hate :)

Not sure why people are rating this movie so high. There is nothing new in the movie and the film falls flat in its second half as well as the climax. Indian cinema have produced much better films in the past where the common man stands against the corrupt government, be it A Wednesday, Nayak or Hindustani among others. Mumbai Meri Jaan was much better film directed by Nishikant Kamat's that depicts the life of a common man and how it gets affected by external scenarios. Also, lately the films directed by him like Force, Rocky Handsome they aren't something which surprise you or you feel great about them. He was able to do justice with the remake of Drishyam though..Coming back to this film, Irrfan tries to do justice with his role but the story doesn't holds your attention for much long. Better Avoided !!!

I must say Nishikant Kamat is a great director. I thought his movie Force was good. I absolutely adored Drishyam, Rocky Handsome was just above average. And here is Madaari one of the most awaited Bollywood movie of 2016. So how is Madaari was it entertaining: Yes. Was it perfect: NO. I still have a few flaws with the film which I will list at the end of this review. So the movie basically revolves around a man who's son dies in a man-made disaster then he later decides to kidnap the minister's son to fill his life with the love of a boy and that's your movie. So let me tell you my final verdict on Madaari. I liked the direction of the film, I liked the acting of the film, I liked the concept of the film, I liked the music of the film but I just didn't like the second half of the film which takes off a few points of it off because I thoroughly enjoyed it. And that is why I give Madaari a 7.5/10. 73% or B+
