Robin (Simon Phillips) proposes to Dana (Maya Grant) outside a nightclub. Michael (Sean Brosnan) hooks up with new girl Carrie (Bianca Bree/Bianca Brigitte VanDamme). Along with Vincent (Jazz Lintott), the five friends see something strange in the sky. The next day, the networks and power are out. Rumors are spreading and then a spaceship descends on the city. Panic and mayhem ensue. This is a lower budget British sci-fi B-movie. The acting is mostly film school level. It's nothing egregious and the famous kids don't embarrass themselves. Jean-Claude Van Damme does a limited cameo which is more distracting than compelling. The directing by Dominic Burns is weak but the writing is much worst. He tries a mashup of styles. It's a sci-fi movie that can suddenly turn into a martial arts movie out of the blue. It's J.J. Abrams' flare-o-rama plus some 360 camera work. There are alien ships but no alien makeup. It's a dull start that shows a little bit of promise and then slides into a mess.

It began in a promising way, liked the idea and the unusual setting. However there wasn't a lot of acting talent in there. Poor character development and ending. It could have been so much better.JCVD unconvincing and wooden. A few predictable fight scenes. I know what they were trying to do by having Martha Reeves's 'Nowhere to run' in the soundtrack but it made a joke of what was supposed to be a tense scene.100 minutes of my life I won't get back.3/10 is generous.

I wish I could give this movie a zero AND wish I'd checked out the reviews prior to renting! Did it come out on the big screen? I hope people didn't pay THAT much! Rented from red box, and the thought crossed my mind afterward that it should be illegal for some movies to be in there TO RENT! LOL. If an alien movie comes out, I have to look. Love them! Probably my favorite kind of film. But not this one... First of all, the acting is horrendous!! I actually laughed at one death scene because it was THAT bad. We ended up fast forwarding through parts to "get somewhere" and after watching the last few scenes, we just looked at each other in amazement. As in WHAT??!! Before we had even finished it, I checked reviews on IMDb out of curiosity, and got more entertainment from reading those, than I did from this sorry movie!!

This movie is simply awful and not in a fun way. Sometimes films that are terrible are also enjoyable to watch, "dumb fun," making you laugh out loud at the ineptness. However, this film is not only stupid but boring. The pacing is terrible. It is presumably about an attack by aliens but they manage to avoid any involvement of aliens until well into the movie. The attempt at building tension is all about people fighting each other at the most ridiculous times. As you are viewing the movie, questions will occur to you like "If the mobs were amassing outside a store to loot it how come they didn't go around the back to the, incredibly, unlocked door and just walk in the way the main characters did?" But even as I dismissed questions about the ridiculously dopey plot points, I figured "Well maybe it will turn out like that famous Twilight Zone episode in which the aliens sat back while humanity destroyed itself out of its own paranoia." But noooo, nothing that clever as the aliens who had incredible technology and fire power SPOILER ALERT showed up as being identical to humans - in fact having infiltrated the world and passed as humans for years - and just shot them with guns.I should also point out that at the beginning there is soft-core porn, which in itself didn't bode well for the movie as a science fiction effort. However, I tried to shrug that off in thinking "Well, it's a foreign film so maybe this is standard" - I recalled TV shows I'd seen in some European which had nothing to do, specifically, with sexual themes yet had to toss in some sex scenes for the heck of it, as was expected. But in looking back I'd have to write off the early sex scenes as part of the "cheesiness" factor. The movie is extremely derivative, having stolen spaceship design from a number of films, along with the "aliens among us" theme (what a savings on special effects!), among many other elements. But I can't really call it derivative without insulting a large number of films that it borrowed from - it brings film-making to new lows. Avoid it, or you may risk wishing that you could have an hour and a half of your life back.
