The Baseline is the centre of the East London grime club scene and the queue regularly stretches around the block. Danny works on the door - breaking up fights and managing drunk kids. However, when he rescues Terry, the club owner and local gang leader, from a hitman, Danny is suddenly plunged deep into an underworld he had tried so hard to avoid. Danny is promoted to manager, but only on the condition that he turns a blind eye to the shady goings on both on and off the dance-floor. Danny and his girlfriend Jessica dream of setting up their own club, but Danny is forced to make the ultimate sacrifice when he has to choose between loyalty, morality and his own dreams of escape

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

This fast paced gritty British thrill ride grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and never let go! Engaging story and beautiful cinematography. Great performances by Dexter Fletcher, Freddie Connor and Jamie Foreman! British filmmaking of the highest order. Why is it British films are so much better than American ones? I believe it is because they are masterful storytellers!

Although this film in my opinion doesn't match up to Guy Ritchies gangster films such as Snatch or Lock, stock and two smoking barrels it is still a well done British gangster film by an almost unknown director.Compared to the most recently produced British gangster film i last watched (Dead man running) Baseline was a well casted film with a decent storyline, apart from an abrupt ending which left me disappointed as the film seemed to build up towards what i hoped was a action packed ending. Other than this the storyline was fairly well written.Although from early on the film was fairly predictable as the audience is shown a large amount of money in a safe whilst our main protagonist, Danny, is keeping track of the amount of money he has in a notebook. I'm certain that i am not in the minority when i predicted that something will happen resulting in him loosing the money. Apart from the predictability in parts Baseline achieved what i expect from a British gangster film, it had plenty of violence and a scary, knuckle-duster brandishing crime lord who wants his money.

A NEW DECADE.....AND A NEW ERA FOR BRITSH GANGSTER FILMS AND THE BASELINE HAS SET THE HIGH STANDARD!!! wow its been too long sense we've had a great original British gangster movie and when i saw it in the cinema i was blown away literally!!! its a great start to the decade and i think its deffently set a high standard for gangster films to come. and one major fact was i thought that the main actor Freddie Connor who played Danny the main character was fantastic as that part i'm surprised we haven't seen him sooner trust me hes gonna be a British gangster film legend. this is only the beginning. plus the supporting actors are just brilliant in their own right. Jamie Forman, Gorden Alexanda, Dexter Flecher and co are amazing. Zoe Tapper is outstanding as Danny's love interest for the film. the soundtrack as well is ear candy so all in all a real treat for British cinema and i hope that THE BASELINE is the start of Freddie Connor booming Career as and actor. so 10/10 a must see film
