Dead Cert (2010)

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

It's always dangerous to mix to genres together especially when it has been done before. Face it, if you watch this British production then you surely will be reminded of From Dusk Till Dawn. Here we have gangsters in the first 45 minutes fighting against some Romanian thug. But once the Romanians have taken over the property of the Brits the Brits decide to take it all back. Wrong, the Romanians aren't just criminals, they are creatures of the night. So far so good. The positive thing is the fact that it's spoken in cockney accent and I like that accent very much. Naturally they use slang but for those not understanding it all they included subs. The actors are all well known faces in the UK scene and some you will recognise from for example Perry Banson who played dad in Mum And Dad. Craig Fairbrass from Devil's Playground and others due appeared in blockbusters like Clash Of The Titans. So the acting was believable.My only problem was the fact that it took a bit of time before the vampires arrived. Once they were there the red stuff do flows but it never becomes gory and sadly some of the red stuff is CGI. It's a weird flick, the chicks look awesome at the club and the acting was okay but it did lack a bit of real horror. Nevertheless, it was great to see all those actors together but the story failed a bit...Fun to see Eleanor James again, sadly she didn't say anything and was only at the background. I wanted to disbelieve the bad reviews so went ahead and watched it anyway.... Absolutely was a waste of time. Fair to say I stayed awake, but that was only because I kept waiting for the vampire parts to begin. And when they did, they didn't make much sense to me. Maybe because of the accents, maybe the volume was too low, or maybe the movie just sucked but I had a hard time understanding what the heck was going on. Right to the very end.On a positive note, the acting wasn't bad.... just what they were told to do was. These were some of the strangest behaved vampires I'd ever seen and I often shook my head in disbelief at the storyline. What I felt most during this movie, was annoyed.

This movie wasn't entirely terrible but it certainly won't be embracing my DVD player for quite a while. It semi works as a gangster flick, in brief a rival gang tries to take over an established patch. This has worked in the past and could have possibly worked now. Considering the cast of British stars that appear in it, Craig Fairbrass, jason Flemyng and Dexter fletcher to name a few.But then... The vampire bit seems to pop up. It feels like they couldn't really pick a decent way for the movie to go and decided it would be a good idea to throw a couple of bloodsuckers in. The culminating scene near the end of the movie becoming like a poor mans from dusk till dawn.It falls slightly short of a gangster flick and slightly short of a horror flick it's one of those that I'm sure you will be on the fence about. The only real qualm i had with thee movie is billy murray's romanian character... Without a hint of a romanian accent Try the film by all means but don't get your hopes up to high.

What can I say about Brit flick Dead Cert, i could be obvious and say it's dead cert this will be dreadful. Well a film starring Craig Fairbrass and Billy Murray was never going to be a classic but nothing can prepare you for how awful this is, the only thing that could make it worse is if Danny Dyer popped up-oh god there he is!! The Vampire genre is getting so stale that film makers are trying anything, so here we have Cor Blimey guvnor meets the undead. please do yourself a favour and avoid, and Billy stick to the Injury Lawyers ads-much more entertaining and Craig Fairbrass, er perhaps retirement or present a show on Bravo-oh no wait that's Dyers job and he still gets time to make at least 3 terrible films a year!
