I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

I watched this movie again yesterday and I still laughed like it was the first time id seen it..Its my all time favorite Carry on with Carry on Cleo being my second favorite..Harry H Corbett and Peter Butterworth are brilliant as the inept coppers, Jim Dale stands out as the boyfriend of one of the girls who is kidnapped, I've never been a fan of Mr Williams but I have to say he does a good job as the villain with his death scene as over the top and really funny as ever .. My only complaint is that I think Sid James should have played the CSI/ scientist instead of John Pertwee and Pertwee could have played an Egor character as another foil to Kenneth Williams. What I think made the film was that they didn't stick to one horror story but bought in and mixture of Frankenstein, Werewolf's and Vampires etc

My main complaint about this film is the casting. They cast Jim Dale and Angela Douglas who are wonderful together. She appears at the beginning, and at the end, with a short scene in the middle. Why? She is a good actress and very beautiful. Jim Dale is great as always. His girlfriend is kidnapped by Kenneth Williams and his clan. He is the Dracula type and Bernard Bresselaw, who is underused, plays the butler. The others in the castle are not Carry On regulars and I don't really care for them. Peter Butterworth and another guy plays bumbling coppers. There are some good scenes with them and Jim, but there are way too many scenes that don't feature the Carry On regulars. I really like a lot of the Carry On's, but this one misses the mark.

The chemistry between Fenella Fielding and Harry H Corbett is outstanding. They just sparkle on screen together. She was a remarkable performer and added class to every movie she did. I love her sexy sultry voice. Harry H Cobett is as he always was perfect. he looks as though he had been doing these movies for years. He was a brilliant performer. I had to good fortune of seeing him on stage when he came here to Australia to star in the JCW production of Neil Simons LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS. He was brilliant. Intentional or other wise it was a great idea to change the cast and introduce guests and new faces every now and then. I must say I prefer Harry to Sid James, even though Sid was a fine performer in his own right. The rest of the cast are great. I had not taken much notice of Amanda Douglas in previous movies but her performance in this is quite delightful. Jim Dale of course is as sexy as ever and a fine performer. His physical comedy is quite brilliant. Its the first one for Peter Butterworth. I really liked him in this and his drag is pretty good.Joan Sims is the wife from hell and gives a suitably nasty performance. Its rather funny to note that British people slept wit potties under their beds. I wonder if they still do? I guess so. The film looks great. I love the opening credits. We don't see much of Charles Hawtry in this but he gives a much straighter performance in this and its fun. It looks rather like a Hammer film. Kenneth Williams hams it up superbly as always. Its a bright clever film. I gave it an eight.

With its corny gags and ridiculously funny one-liners, Carry On Screaming has to be one of the best films i saw as a child. It started my love affair with the Carry On series, which to this day remain as funny as when they were made. The casting was superb, with Harry H. Corbett hamming it up wonderfully as the bumbling Bung, Fenella Fielding bringing camp glamour to the proceedings as Valeria Watt and, of course, Kenneth Williams in his most memorable Carry On role as the ghoulish Dr. Orlando Watt. The whole cast seem to be enjoying themselves immensely, especially during the last part of the film. Even now, when i watch it, i have a grin on my face that stretches from ear to ear. This is the perfect film for first-time viewers of the carry on films, young or old.
