Overrated and overhyped

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

This movie is quite provocative. It is essentially about collective punishment, since a teenager girls (Lore) needs to become surrogate mother to her young siblings, who face starvation in post war Germany. She is immature herself, but slowly learns how to become a role model, and during the movie, we wonder how does it feel to be burdened with a legacy that is not yours. If his father was a perpetrator of any crimes (the movie doesn't tell a lot if he was just a petty officer or more than that) the children are totally victims of a war they didn't cause. I had sympathy for Lore because she shows how we humans behave in a situation of desperation. There are millions of civilians dispersed, everybody is poor, so no one helps anybody. So essentially the children are on their own.I enjoyed the movie, even though it is a mostly sad story.

As the Allies sweep across Germany, Lore leads her siblings on a journey that exposes them to the truth of their parents' beliefs. An encounter with a mysterious refugee forces Lore to rely on a person she has always been taught to hate. This movie caught me by surprise it was directed pretty nicely but also the performance of the leading girl Hannelore played by Saskia Rosendahl is amazing this is a movie in a time of war that truly shines for it's time but also shows how many people were out there that were the same as today trying to make love with a girl or use them in order to take one of the kids away. We never see the parents again but 100% they were executed i'm glad that the film ended on a high note but not everyone makes it on Grandma's house in the end Lore was an excellent movie that you should definitely see.

I absolutely love this movie. Its one of those drawn out and action over words movie (or in other words, "analyzing" movie) , so you have to paid attention. I'm glad i found it Netflix. The movie was intense. It made me question how people we label as "bad" think of us. Also, the "staring match" that was going on between the two main characters was indescribable. I want to said that it was wrong what was going on with them, considering she was suppose to be 14. BUT, i had hope there was a happy ending. However, I still love the ending, way more realistic and tragic. After watching the movie, I was "hooked" for days. All I thought about was LORE. I searched for anything I could find out about LORE. I didn't want it to be over. Especially, with the unanswered questions (who is Thomas?). BUT i gotta confessed those questions made me love it more. I'm so upset that I can't find the alternate ending. Supposedly, it's not available in some countries.

While I would agree that this movie was beautifully filmed and acted with majestic cinematography, it is not a story that needs to be told. This is a story of, essentially, victimizers being portrayed as victims! After the war, young, overly privileged Nazi children have to trek across Germany for a short time, relying on a young Jewish man for survival, until they reach grandma's house and continue their over privileged and unscathed lives. There are some hardships along the way, don't get me wrong, like being unable to cross borders, only having fruit and bread to eat, and having to sell family heirlooms. There are some touching moments but, for the most part, these children are entirely oblivious, and this movie downplays, the suffering around them and, conversely, makes their moments of difficulty more pronounced. This is most visibly seen by the second eldest daughter who, the day following their arrival at grandma's house, is seen dancing happily with the maid; entirely oblivious to the world around her. The eldest girl, Lore, superficially pieces together the actions of her parents without really understanding the depth and breadth of their doings. Overall, while beautifully made, I found the story to be ridiculous. I do not sympathize or recognize the suffering of these over privileged children who had to forage through a forest for a short time to ultimately arrive at grandma's house; who seems to be untouched by war. One might argue that this it's a different perspective on a genre that's been extensively covered. I argue that this is not a relevant one. I found the handling of the subject matter to be done trivially.Let's do a follow up, children of drug lords suffering because they cannot afford another Maserati and have to drive a Porsche instead; rather than dealing with the violence and devastation their actions have on the people and communities around them.
