That infamous whale is bigger, badder and a whole lot stronger in this sci-fi reimagining of Herman Melville’s classic tale of the battle between man, sea and sea creature starring “Xena” alum Rene O’Connor as the (traditionally male) narrator. But the boat — now a high-tech submarine — is also bigger, and Capt. Ahab is as determined as ever to settle the score and take down the mighty sea mammal that maimed him.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

After being abducted and taken aboard a futuristic submarine, a scientist and her assistant find themselves involved in the captain's mad quest of vengeance against the legendary 500-foot long whale responsible for his disfigurement and a trail of carnage along the water.Overall, this is a perfectly fine and decent creature feature, based mainly upon the fact that it really features a lot more original material than would be expected since it's based on the familiar story quite well. Being a modern-day adaptation allows for some more fun in some key areas, as there's some really entertaining and exciting underwater chases involving submarines, torpedos, traps, and such, which is something that's a lot of fun and really amps the film up considerably. The final fight in the island cove also works pretty well, but the film does suffer from the same old thing regarding the Sci-Fi Channel originals, the lame CGI that rarely matches the action presented as well as the fact that this one has a lot of extraneous subplots to stretch the running time out which are pretty silly, but the CGI is the main thing holding this down and keeping it fairly mediocre.Rated Unrated/R: Language and Violence.

Depressng that people got paid for this movie. It's one the actors, writers, directors, production crew, script writers, and everyone and anyone who had anything to do with this movie, if you can call it a movie, should save for their friends and families to watch because someone ought to have the courage to tell them its really really really bad.Score of one out of ten is too generous, considering it was 2010 and not 1910 that this movie was made.I rather watch the BLOB or Killer Tomatoes any day.WTF were they thinking?

2010:Moby Dick is one of the most illogical movies I've ever seen. Good for a few uncomfortable laughs, but that's about it. I also did appreciate the fact that this movie had very little swearing and it had no inappropriate sex scenes. But I am a man of science and a lot of this movie had glaring errors which i'm gonna write out for a while.#1. The whale is 500 feet long, how can it hide on a beach that's roughly 12 feet deep? #2 Compared to an Ohio class submarine (560 feet long) and a Virginia class submarine (377 feet long) why are they severely dwarfed compared to a 500 foot whale? #3 Too liberal use of nukes... #4 How could anyone survive 3 nukes going into an island? I could go on but at that point I'd be rambling. This movie was bad to the point that it wasn't even enjoyable as a joke B movie. Barry Bostwick looked like he was in pain and no one else was memorable.

You know that feeling that if you saw a big red button in a nuclear facility that said "Danger do not press" you feel that in built human compulsion to press? Well I read the reviews here and thought what the hell. My god why didn't I listen??! This is without doubt the worst film I have ever seen for a long time. When it came to the point of the sub coming along side of the small boat I seriously thought this was a spoof film, I was waiting for Leslie Nielson to pop up with the "blow up navigator" {Airplane?} The nuclear sub pulls up alongside a small speed boat and the xo in the conning tower is only about two foot higher than the people in the boat!!! The crew where straight out of Police Academy ,note navigator with bandanna! Navy personnel in jungle pattern uniforms. Helicopter with no glass, flown by a pilot with muscular tourettes. Firing bullets at the sub underwater and the result of a major depth charge attack. It just got too much when the pilot flew the helicopter into the whales mouth....I nearly choked to death on my beer with laughter.I actually fell asleep half way through, but determined to see it through, like a bad trip to the dentist, finished watching on plus one.Must admit I did feel a sense of achievement like finishing a marathon!.It would have been great re-cut as a spoof film, think Down Periscope. Worth a look at if you if you want to see how not to make a film, but otherwise steer well well clear. One star because it did give me a chuckle
