As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This movie really is bad. Now, I am by no means saying that since I don't like the movie you shouldn't. But, since I prefer that if someone doesn't like a movie they explain why, I am going to attempt to put into words just how bad this movie is.The story is predictable and boring. A Caucasian man, an orphan, grows up in a ninja clan in Japan and learns to be a ninja. He has a rival that is reckless and mean and doesn't follow the full teachings of the master so the white guy is chosen and the successor for the school and protector of the ancient ninja gear. There is also a girl that the hero falls in love with by the end of the movie after the obligatory climatic fight scene. In addition to the above there are so many things about the plot that just didn't make sense to me that I can't remember all of them. Here are a few. The bad guy is after an ancient set of ninja gear so they try to hide it in NY at a university. Not very secretive. I don't know why they just didn't put it in another part of the country (Japan). Russian mob guys are after the hero and the girl and shooting recklessly at them through the city. The camera then cuts to a mob guy and he says: "Remember we want them alive." Then they continue to shoot at them. While staying at the home of the professor that is helping them "hide" the ancient ninja gear, the Russian mob breaks in and kills everyone except the hero and the girl (of course). The police investigate and name them as suspects. The fingerprints on the guns are all mob guys so shouldn't the police name them as people of interest for questioning instead of naming them as the killers? And why did the hero and girl flee the the shootout and go to a hotel? Why not go straight to the police? The dialog is actually funny. I know that it was written to be serious but its so bad it made me laugh or roll my eyes. The fight scenes are so-so. Not very believable at all. The ancient ninja gear is so precious and valuable that the hero wears it for the final climatic fight scene. Of course it gets damaged so all that effort to protect it and all those lives lost was for nothing.Anyhow, don't waste your time with this movie.

A crackling good try at a new Ninja Movie release, this one has all the expected fights and flaws that Fans have come to expect. It is a non-stop Action Movie and the Ninja handle is there for a background Story and is included in parts of the fighting but not all.It is a hybrid of sorts and not pure in in its Title's intent. There are a lot of Guns to go with the Bows and Swords and of course there is a lot of Hand-to-Hand. The Star's athletic charisma and Skill is Awesome and his petite companion is quite feisty, but she takes a lot of punishment and the Macho Man is there a bit too often to order her to "hit the deck" or in true Chivalrous fashion, rescue her from bludgeoning or Death. All of the B Movie clichés are here to make fun but the Movie is so neat looking and hyper-kinetic that the Viewer hardly has time to be annoyed. The most glaring is the obligatory fight that is the showcase for the Hero to fight 10-1 to show off his chops (a Jason Statham trademark).Of course in this Scene all the Bad Guys are mysteriously without Guns that were there just a minute before. But that would put an end to the ever present elongated choreographed Kung-Fu Dance that could be called the "Hero vs Everybody at Once" part.Overall Worth a Watch for Action Fans and B-Movie Lovers.

this movie has two thing that every ninja movie should have,a vengeance plot and a meeting of the old ways of the ninja and the modern way of the gang/cult.first off you see the training dojo and you don't know if it's the 15th century or the 21st.our hero, casey, who has been in the dojo from youth is in a minor seeming feud with masasuke,a rival student in the dojo, when a training session becomes near fatal masasuke is banished and goes into business as an assassin, meanwhile casey and namiko, the sensei's daughter go to America to guard an ancient ninja artefact, the yoroi bitsu,a chest of weapons and gear used by the ninja ancestors who trained in the dojo.when masasuke kills sensei casey and namiko are targeted, this is where the movie changes, masasuke is the modern ninja, with guns, an extendable katana and a major grudge he uses a cult connection to find and capture casey.when all else fails casey does what he has to do,he opens the chest.as masasuke is modern and casey is a classic ninja,it is a major battle of the ages, and a brilliant fight all around, this movie is sometimes compared to ninja assassin, but the two couldn't be any more different

thought this movie is only a year or so old,it does sort of echo martial arts movies from the eighties.it's very action packed, and very stylish.unlike many movies of the genre, there actually more than a just a thread holding the story together.there a quite few spectacular fight scenes, and there a couple of fairly graphic deaths.i wasn't too impressed with the acting at first but then it improved as the movie progressed.the ending was a bit too predictable,in my opinion.but still, this was a good movie, overall.it was fast paced, and enjoyable.i'd watch it again.maybe not right away, though.would i recommend it?.absolutely.for me,Ninja is a 7/10.
