In 1981, an enthusiastic young adventurer follows his dreams into the Bolivian Amazon jungle with two friends and a guide with a mysterious past. Their journey quickly turns into a terrifying ordeal as the darkest elements of human nature and the deadliest threats of the wilderness lead to an all-out fight for survival.

This movie (for reasons unknown to me) is being billed as a 'horror'. It is a survival story based on real events. Jungles are scary places to most people, but dare I say not 'horrific'. No gore. No gratuitous violence. Just survival in a difficult situation. Yes, it could have used better editing to keep the story tight, but it kept my husband awake, alert and enjoying the film the whole way through (he usually falls asleep half way through our after dinner film unless he's had a nap ;) ). The cinematography was gorgeous! Very realistic. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable film.
I read a few of the other reviews and felt encouraged to write a review.I loved the story and the characters were very well done. The guide was the hardest to figure out. The three adventurers were like a lot of people who are trying to find themselves and maybe, the meaning of their lives. When I was in my teens, twenties or thirties I would have loved to go on an adventure like this. Maybe not quite so extreme. The lure of the mountains and seeing something totally new is a strong pull for some people.The story has a few twists and turns that I did not expect and was interesting throughout. I strongly recommend that you watch this:1. If you love nature, 2. If you love adventure, 3. If you love a great movie with interesting characters.cheers
The film may not be entirely true to the real adventure but in itself does very well. Almost all the scenes and especially in the jungle look real. The wooden raft looks real and seems to really floats on its own. Daniel does a great job throughout. A story of growth through survival.
I love the movie! Despite of what people may say about the shortcomings of this movie, I don't care because I enjoy every seconds I spend.
