Redirected (2014)

Excellent, Without a doubt!!

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

The first must-see film of the year.

By all means, Redirected is not a bad movie, but there's a catch: a viewer has to know Lithuania quite well or he/she will not get it. Not completely, anyway.The movie was directed by Lithuanian director Emilis Velyvis and the idea behind Redirected is to laugh at all existing stereotypes on Lithuanians and/or to deal with some aspects that have (or used to have) an equivalent in the real world.Obviously, not all Lithuanian people are as lowlife as depicted in Redirected, but for a very long time Lithuanian population was burdened with a worrying amount of chavs. It used to be especially bad in the past, straight after the collapse of Soviet Union.Unfortunately, in my opinion, director did not manage to make this clear for an international audiences. And, while it was a HUGE hit in Lithuania, it got a pretty low score on IMDb etc.The movie is full of inner jokes and allusions that one will not get without knowing anything about Lithuania.The only reason to watch it, having nothing to do with the country or its people, is this: if you have a specific taste in movies, that is if you are into loads of silly action, lots of shouting, absurd, farce and do not have any huge expectations, then you will probably like it. Just do not take it too seriously.Otherwise, please do yourself a favour and watch something else instead.

The only thing wrong with the film to me is that it was 99 minutes too long. At 51 minutes I had seen enough and refused to finish. How a movie like this scores anything over a 2 must be Hollywood. I love movies, but this was so bad to me I couldn't even finish watching it, and even movies I think are bad I at least watch until rolling credits appear. NOT this one. If you are looking for comedy I would suggest finding some old Laurel & Hardy films. At least they could pull "comedy" off. This was anything but funny to me. The only reason I gave it a "1" is because there was no way to vote "0". I guess my review for movies is just my own opinion. I do usually look at the IMDb rating of a film before I purchase the DVD or view it, but I found the rating on this site to be way out of line with other sites such as rotten tomatoes, etc. So you can't always go by the IMDb rating. Some movies that only get a 4 are terrific, and some that get 7 & 8, I am thinking WHAT? Just my review and don't take it personal other than someone else's opinion.

A direct imitation of Guy Ritchie movies but after so many years this style is boring now, especially if the movie doesn't have a good story or good acting and if it doesn't bring something new..This movie doesn't bring something new, no good acting, not a good story, just an imitation movie..Maybe thats where the name of the movie comes from...Maybe they thought people will find this movie so smart and funny but still all is, same story different faces (and the different faces not even close to the performances and characters we had in Guy Ritchie movies)No need to waste your time for this movie, you will not miss anything if you don't watch it.

Like some others have said, this somewhat resembles Guy Ritchie films of Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. (Which happen to be some of the most clever and entertaining films out there.). However, it falls short and turns into a version of The Hangover. But, not Hangover 1, more like Hangover 2 where the scenes were cliché and added for a laugh without much thought put into them. I kind of got irritated with it during the 2nd half about when the 2 guys woke up after a night of drinking and couldn't remember the prior evening. I had enjoyed the 1st half so much and wanted it to continue down the same path. It is still an enjoyable movie, I just needed to lower my expectations.
