There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

Well, somehow, I missed this B5 film the first time 'round. I think I may have been in the middle of a move to a new state. I finally had a chance to watch this today and I must say I was... ahem... disappointed. The very first thing I saw appear on the screen was "TNT PRESENTS". I should have taken this as a warning but no, I thought to myself: "Well, its a B5 product; can't be *too* bad, no?" Ten minutes into the film, I began to smell something. I thought one of the cats missed the litterbox or maybe the roast I took out of the freezer for dinner had gone bad but it turned out to be the stench of the TNT suits all over this abomination.Everything about this film was so un-B5. Yes, JMS was credited with the script/screenplay but I have to wonder how many TNT hands were laid on the paper after poor JMS turned it in. Everything was just a little... off. It looked like some sort of fan-fiction story using (nearly) the entire great cast of the show itself as well as the production and SFX crew. More smoke... more explosions, more fights, more ships, more everything except ... ummm, well... QUALITY! This is one B5 film which can be skipped by everyone except the completest. I'm a huge fan of the series. The other MfTV B5 films are fair to decent, but this one was like the semi-Lovecraftian beasties in the "artifact": best left alone.(I know I said there were spoilers but really, there weren't. Better safe than sorry.)

I've never liked this film very much and in fact it's probably the only time I watched a story of B5 and didn't like it on first watching, it's never really improved much.Generally the acting is fairly poor, Shari Belafonte does a passable job and the main acting is poor all round except for a slightly improved performance for Patricia Tallman and one good scene between Tallman and Conaway. In fact I'd say watch the elevator scene and listen to Trent's explanation about what happened to Lyta Alexander when she went into vorlon space, but ignore all the rest. This film was set in Season Four of the show, but sadly pales to all the episodes of that season except for "Conflicts of Interest" and "The Illusion of Truth".By far the worst of the B5 movies.

Okay, admit it. You've wondered about TNT's influence over B5 after it moved to that channel. Well, this movie proves it. Okay, would JMS have written something as violent and effect-full if TNT HADN'T been shoving the whole 'demographic' thing down his throat? I mean, all those shots of the fist-fighting was a little over the top. But on whole I'd have to say that it was a terrific movie anyway. Okay, a LITTLE dull. But the special effects were GREAT!!!! One complaint though. (Same complaint as the one I have with the ep 'Day of the Dead'.) They missed a PERFECT opportunity to bring back Marcus.

It seems that many people criticize thirdspace for not incorporating easily into the babylon 5 story arc, or universe or whatever. But does it matter? As a stand alone movie Thirdspace is simply outstanding. The soundtrack alone is brilliant and very deep, and together with the computer animation it simply mesmerizes you when you see it. I seriously don't see how anyone could consider it boring. The plot is well written, and has enough suspense to keep you guessing until the very end. The actor's performances are great as usual. In one word, its simply perfect. One thing however sets it apart from so many other movies out there (at least for me) and that is, it makes you think. It leaves a lasting impression and asks to consider a serious question, how far can you go with a search for more knowledge and power, and when do you have to stop? It could have been done poorly and then be boring, and pointless but it definitely wasn't. I give this one a solid 10 and it remains one of my favorite movies of all time.
