Good movie but grossly overrated

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

But in a fun romantic kind of way. It's not only about suspending your disbelief, but just rolling with it. The movie does not serve anything else than what you should expect from a title like that. To be honest, I thought it'd be worse, but in this case you can feel how much fun the actors had on set. Everyone is clicking and even relationships that seem to have issues, have their strong moments. You can see why there are problems and obviously we do get clichés too. Even the voice over does work (most of the time). Of course you shouldn't have issues with Kevin Hart (I have friends who think he's annoying) or anyone else for that matter. If you can dig them and like seeing people going at it (not literally, no explicit love scenes to make that clear, and the movie is far too light and does not need them) - this movie can be a fun ride for you. Don't expect too much depth of course

Tim Story's adaptation of Steve Harvey's bestseller "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man" qualifies a good romantic comedy about relationships that is content to stick with the subject matter rather than stray off on a tangent like "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Story and "Friends with Benefits" scenarists Keith Merryman and David A. Newman has made an entertaining date movie that has more substance than most movies and boasts characters who experience change in their lives instead of staying the same. Aspiring chef Dominic (Michael Ealy) falls head over heels in love with stuck-up Lauren (Taraji P. Henson) who prefers men with six-figure salaries. Man-boy Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara) discovers that his girlfriend Kristen (Gabrielle Union) wants to upgrade their relationship and renovate their house. Mya (Meagan Good) wants to string along the player of all players, Zeke (Romany Malco) for 90 days before she gives up what she metaphorically refers to as 'the cookie.' Mama's boy Michael (Terrence Jenkins) stops hanging up with his imperious mother so he can date his new girlfriend Candace (Regina Hall) who is a single mom with a clever little boy Duke (Caleel Harris) who knows more than he should for his age. Finally, Cedric (Kevin Hart) is divorcing his wife, Gail (Wendy Williams), but deep down he isn't prepared to give her up. Story alternates this four couples but he never gives them the short-shrift. Although everything turns out splendidly for all four couples involved, the road to happiness and a relationship with pitted with some pretty big potholes. Mostly, the characters are realistic people in realistic situations, and it is easy for audiences to sympathize with them. "Think Like A Man" benefits immeasurably from Steve Harvey's presence, too, as he explains the way things are in a relationship. The filmmakers have the intelligence to never stoop for the wrong humor. Each character is etched with multiple dimensions. My favorite relationship took place between Dominic and Lauren. Of course, Kevin Hart is so hilarious that you want to laugh every time that he opens his mouth.

A great ensemble cast of comedic greats, and familiar faces, Think Like A Man is an entertaining, funny film. Based on a 'self help dating' book by Comic Steve Harvey, similar to "The Rules" the plot follows the book's suggestions for women's dating technique in order to get what they want from the men they date. It's predictable, of course, but gripping and amusing. All the actors bring something different, similar to Best Man casting. Comedy Golden Boy du jour Kevin Hart was the main overt comedy of the piece - as the downtrodden soon to be divorced from an overbearing wife character. Gorgeous Meagan Good goes up against the "playboy" character as Mya dating Zeke (Romany Malco), Regina Hall (Friends, Bad Boys II) dates "Commitment-phobe" Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara - Entourage's Turtle), Taraji P Henson plays Lauren the rich business woman, falling for jobless eye candy "dreamer" Michael Ealy. Morris Chestnut also puts in an appearance, playing arrogant high flyer. Jenifer Lewis, a stalwart Black American actress, known for her face and her voice in equal measure plays the Mother to the "Mother's boy" character Terence Jenkins. All the pairs of daters are up against/use the book for their own ends with comic effects.A really fun film. You are quickly involved in the characters - no doubt female watchers would root for the girls, and males the boys - and with the variety of the couples, there is something for everyone to watch, enjoy and relate to. Something for men and women to watch, this isn't like a "chick flick" as it might appear. A very entertaining, laugh out loud watch. I was a little disappointed when it finished.

This movie is about the guys turning the table on the girls, getting caught, then the makeup. So, a group of female friends are taking advice from a relationship book on how to act around a certain guy. Like is he a moma's boy, does he have ambition, does he have a career, the 90 day rule. They go on dates and are puzzles to the guys till the guys discover Steve Harvey's book and realize the girls are reading it and there are chapters based on each of their situations. So the guys start taking the advice of the book and doing what the book says. The girls think they have met their dream guys until they find out the guys are reading the book too. Of course, all of the couples think they really like each other and smooth everything over at the end.FINAL VERDICT: OK , best for a girls night flick.
