Things seem pretty bad for a young girl living a "hard-knock life" in an orphanage. Fed up with the dastardly Miss Hannigan, Annie escapes the run-down orphanage determined to find her mom and dad. It's an adventure that takes her from the cold, mean streets of New York to the warm, comforting arms of bighearted billionaire Oliver Warbucks - with plenty of mischief and music in between.

I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Having grown up with the 1982 version of "Annie" this version is not so great, yes, the new Annie is cute, but Aileen Quinn has a charisma Alicia Morton does not have. The song and dance numbers are too short or just plain annoying. I prefer the old cast to the new cast. Kathy Bates does not make a good Miss Hannigan,Carol Burnett was so much funnier. The little girl who plays Molly is annoying and the orphans aren't even grungy looking plus there's only seven (which is weird) even if there were seven main orphans is the 1982 version, they still showed extras . The dramatic scene was cut out and replaced by something else .If you must see "Annie" see the 1982 version,it's so much better

The cast is superb, and the screenplay is creatively loyal to the original Broadway script, but all that is beside the point. When Walt Disney reflected on the disappointing box-office performance of his animated feature, ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1953), he tersely explained, "It had no heart." We need only compare ALICE to CINDERLLA (1950) to understand what he meant. Perhaps many of his live-actor features met that standard, yet NOWHERE have I ever found a film with so much "heart" as this production. The Broadway original is said to have contained political overtones, and the 1982 motion picture was frankly crafted to reflect John Houston's considerable talents, but this version of ANNIE was made for all of us who want to be moved by a story and still feel jolly-well elated about the way it develops and ends. It takes quite a rare blend of ingredients to create a composition of this quality, no matter what kind of advantages its creators have at the start. This production succeeds for one overriding reason: everyone concerned put every last ounce of heart they possessed into it!

I saw clips from the new movie and immediately wanted to see it. I think there are good points and bad points to each movie. I think that the new movie had a better Annie and molly. But i think the old one had a better Mrs. Hannigan and daddy Warbucks. I like the new one better though. I still like the old one though. they both had very high spirited performances and incredible singing. The new one had better singing and acting. And its closer to the stage play.I think the new Annie is a whole lot prettier. Shes so adorable and i look to her as an inspiration.Don't get me wrong, the old annie is terrific but the new ones better. And Carol Burnett played Mrs.Hannigan perfectly. This is what i think about this movie

I used to be obsessed with Annie when I was young and saw all of the movies and the Broadway show. Then, I saw that this film was coming out. I was so excited. I watched it and absolutely loved it. I think it is the best Annie film to date. Why do I think that? the acting. Newcomer Alicia Morton is adorable and has a fantastic voice. She does great in the emotional scenes and is tough at some times and sweet at others. Audra Mcdonald also gives a solid performance and plays the part of grace perfectly. Kudos to Kathy Bates for singing because in an interview I saw she said she'd never sing. She also was hilarious at Ms. Hannigan. Victor Garber, Alan Cumming, and Kristin Chenoweth also gave great performances. Oh and the orphans and Sandy were adorable! I recommend this film. Great for the family.
