While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

The acting in this movie is really good.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Overboard, follows a widowed man with four sons who is working hard to provide for the family and meets a snobby rich woman whom he takes revenge on after not getting paid when she gets a hard case of amnesia. Now thinking she is married to the man she is forced to work, clean, and take care of the kids not knowing who she really is. This old classic is a ton of fun with great actors such as Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn who bring the comedy to the stage. This movie was good and enjoyable, though I didn't like it as much as i'd hoped. It was a good movie nonetheless and highly recommend to those who have not seen such a classic like this!"You know what your problem is? You are so godd**n bored, you have to INVENT things to b**ch about! You don't have a single thing to do on this earth except for your hair! The closet was fine, you just needed something to fill up your useless, nail-polishing, toe-polishing, rich b**ch, sun-tanning days!"-Dean Proffitt, Overboard

Joanna Stayton (Goldie Hawn) is an obscenely wealthy, married socialite with nothing to do but languish in her large yacht, painting her nails in an array of skimpy bathsuits. Then disaster strikes:Joanna needs some additions made to her closet, and for this she calls Dean Profitt, a struggling, happy-go-lucky carpenter with four boys to raise, and no wife to help him. After he's finished doing two days worth of work, Joanna complains that the wood is oak instead of cedar, and every carpenter who knows his salt should be aware that closets are made out of cedar not oak.On these grounds, she refuses to pay Dean what she owes him, and when he protests, she throws him, and his tools overboard.Dean vows revenge, but never dreams he'll get it...until Joanna has an accident, falling out of her yacht, and washing up on shore in Dean's tiny little town with amnesia. And though Joanna's husband (Edward Hermann) is perfectly capable of reclaiming his wife, he chooses instead to seize the day, and go on a pleasure cruise with a group of starlets, clearing the way for Dean to get his revenge.Bursting with plans to get back at her, he eagerly reclaims his "wife", and makes her the keeper of of his little shack, and the mother of his four rowdy boys.He makes her sleep on the couch because of her " bad back", and insists that not too long ago she was big as a balloon, therefore she has to wear dresses that are hideous, and twelve sizes too big.The story may seem predictable but it is, in fact, rather wonderful. It's funny, it's bright, and it has a surprising amount of subplots to make it interesting. There's even a legend about two lovers, and the sea which is where the title of this review came from. The direction by Gary Marshall is excellent. And the chemistry between Goldie Hawn, and Kurt Russell really makes the movie.Edward Hermann really adds in his cameo role as the dissolute husband.Wonderful movie. One of my favorites. Really a nice surprise!Originally, Review #63Posted On: April 22, 2010

This was just a great, fun film. It was extremely enjoyable to watch! The casting was great - couldn't have been better! The film is really hilarious! The kids were also really excellent. They were actually genuinely funny and made me laugh! Kurt Russell was excellent. He did a great job as the carpenter. You could see his growth - from vengeance to actual true love. Very enjoyable story. I really liked it. And I'm a - GUY! Goldie was great as well as the nasty rich girl, but when she got amnesia, she really showed heart and warmth. And Edward Hermann was a blast to watch also... All around just a great, fun, romantic comedy! Rent this film now - and watch it, if you want to smile! :)

I have to admit I have watched this movie many times and there are some funny things in it. Seeing Goldie Hawn is always a good thing. I do not think that I can support this movie anymore. A guy takes advantage of a woman that has lost her memory? Basically puts her through hell as a slave. Then falls for her and decides to have sex with her? Isn't that highly illegal? Shouldn't he be on a registry somewhere for this? Instead he gets the Coast Guard to help him and gets the girl. The girl is transformed through rape. I have to say I cannot watch this ever again. Still give it a 2 for the couple of funny things in it, but again this is a poorly thought out premise. Even though I understand that 1987 was a different time (that was the year of the release of the movie). I am sure people will read this and go, come on it is a movie. Think about it though.
