When Ethan arrives at the airport just in time to declare his undying love for his girlfriend, love appears to have conquered all. The scene, however, is really the ending of Ethan's novel, which his agent calls "unrealistic." Ethan soon meets a waitress, Jesse, and falls in love with her despite her growing devotion to Troy, a charming businessman. But the line between reality and fiction becomes increasingly blurred.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Sup, people! I watched the movie while waiting to my medical appointment. Dare I say: these movie sucks like my cancer. Actually, if I had to choose between this movie and the latter, the dilemma would be good. The movie is, essentially, about a really great whore who tries to decide which of the two goofies she is going to settle down for good (she is a "poor waitress"). Her dilemma is solved through empirical experience (she secretly hook up with both of them). The first thing that naturally came to my mind was: what if it was the opposite? (a dude choosing between 2 chicks). I went through 3/4 of this film. "Luckily", I was called to my consult. I told my doctor about what i had just seen and he became worried that this movie might have worsen my disease. PS - also, this movie may have caused temporary dick detachment.

I am a sucker for a romcom. They're not usually the most well written or unpredictable (all thought there are a few exceptions out there). This movie is one such exception. It starts out as a simple story of a girl picking between two guys, both equally likable, but one considerably more well off than the other. Then you start to notice how the two stories mirror each other. They go on the same dates, although one is always much more upscale than the other, they are both writers, though one is making a better living at it. And then at the end, it all just clicks. The one never really existed at all, but was a more charismatic version of the other-- the one the publisher was looking for. And the secret she had to tell wasn't about another guy, but that she couldn't have children. Looking back on it, it's one of those where it leads you to believe that the guy actually exists, but you realize that he never actually talks to anyone or meets anyone but the main character. (I'm thinking of another movie here, but I'm not going to spoil the ending to one movie while reviewing another. Those of you who have seen it will know what I'm talking about.) It all just made sense at the end. It was, in my opinion, the perfect ending.

'My Girlfriend's Boyfriend' is sweet, original and completely surprising.I've always been a fan of Alyssa Milano, especially during the first 3 years of 'Charmed'. I loved the fact that in the movie it's mentioned that her character is a vegetarian. I've read that Alyssa is vegetarian in real life.Tom Lenk plays Jesse's (Alyssa) brother with depth and compassion. It's nice to see this former BtVS actor in a non geeky role.Christopher Gorham is sweet as Ethan. Carol Kane is great in every role she plays. This movie is filmed in Utah which is refreshing as so many movies are filmed in British Canada that it's easily recognized. I love Canada but after seeing this film, I now want to visit Utah.

I enjoyed the film and didn't really think about the twist let alone see it coming. I seemed to spend much of the film wondering if James Van Der Beek had died his hair black before realizing it was Henry off Ugly Betty.Unfortunately the publicist was right, Christopher Gorham didn't convince me he was a good leading man. I spent most of the movie thinking the other guy was the better (hotter, fitter!) choice so I guess I was slightly disappointed by the twist. I suppose you could say that was the point of the story, that the leading man wasn't the usual type but it just left me a tad unsatisfied.Probably wouldn't watch it again so can only be an average 5/10 for me.
