All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

It is everything you want it to be. Trust me. Peter J. Tomasi has nailed it. It's the best DC movie I've seen in a while. This story has got real heart, I was almost crying in the climax. And the main fight is freaking awesome. I can't remember watching a fight this entertaining and brutal, my computer froze from pure awesomeness, and even though I knew how it would end, I still found myself surprised by a number of the beats throughout the battle. I was struck with awe when I witnessed the climax. It is awesome! I've seen it 4 times, and I am still enjoying it. Can't wait for the Reign of Supermen. 10/10

Twice now WB Animated have attempted the Death of Superman story and twice they've got it wrong. Why they can't do one that is faithful to the source material is beyond me. Only a few actual scenes from the comic made it into this film with even the outfits redone to the poor New 52 suits. The only redeeming features this has are the animation and voice work, otherwise steer clear if you want something faithful. Very disappointed.

Finally, after seeing Superman die 4 times on the screen, we've got a very accurate and decent adaptation. Don't get me wrong, I don't care if this is accurate in how much similar it is to the comic book. But it gave me the same feeling as reading it (and, damn, I had a lot of feels with this movie). Visually, I loved this movie. Even though there isn't much improvement in the animation, I really liked the color palette. The sunset or night scenes had a great combinnation of colors. The story, as it's fragmented in a few sub-plots, is a progressive journey through the feelings that Superman gives to the people of Metropolis and the whole world, and makes you feel the same desperation they felt on the climax of the movie. What I didn't like was the way the post-credit scenes where shown. I'd prefered if it was all together instead of each one separated from the other. Even though, I really look forward to seeing the Reign of the Supermen next year.

It's nice that DC apparently let their kids write a script, but they really shouldn't have used any of it for the movie. The dialogue is atrocious - stilted and ham-fisted at ever turn.And the voice actors were horribly miscast - Rainn Wilson (whose work I usually enjoy) was arguably a worse choice for Lex Luthor than Jesse Eisenberg, an impressive feat in itself. Jerry O'Connell (Superman) and Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman) fared little better, but that might have been due to the absolute garbage they were being given to work with.How does one make a JL versus Doomsday movie *boring* of all things? The first half of the movie is a disjointed mess, a blatant attempt to shoehorn in the 4 new "Supermen" that will be starring in the next flick, but they contributed nothing to the story. The whole subplot about Lois meeting the Kents was 100% unnecessary and only served as padding for the movie length. Martian Manhunter didn't appear at all in the flick except to show up, get set on fire, and then not be used again. And as much of a fan of profanity as I am, it was just stupid in this movie. Not that superheroes can't swear, but it sounded like an 8th grader wrote it.Skip this. Skip it hard. Want to watch a DC animated flick that's worth it? Go watch "Batman: Under The Red Hood", "Justice League: Doom", "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox", or "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse". Even "Superman: Doomsday" (you know, the first time they made this animated movie?) was better than this, and I didn't like "Superman: Doomsday".Ugh, I wish I could give this thing negative stars...
