Good story, Not enough for a whole film

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

Well done biopic about the late journalist Gary Webb starring Jeremy Renner. Not sure how I missed this one at release but caught up on Cinemax. Great Cast and very interesting storyline. Another strike against our Government. that needed to be told !

This all the beginning of the end of the free press in america with REAGAN don't think he killed himself

Interesting story of the vile corruption in America.Poorly researched.Poorly put together.Total failure in showing how and why Mr Webb supposedly killed himself with two bullets.Or was murdered.Mr Renner played very monotonously. Inhuman.Watchable.Disappointing.I don't know if there was a casting issue for Webb's wife. I'd've probably killed myself if I'd a scraggy wife like that. Not an appealing choice. But in real life he had several children with her, so probably was not her.Why on earth did he pop off to stay in that hotel? And if your bike's stolen why do you add to your woes by then vandalising your own car? There's no sense in it. We need an investigative reporter to decypher this movie it seems.A remake is necessary to show the exact events of the true story. Ie not US corruption, but Mr Webb's death.

Jeremy renner is one of my favourite actors in Hollywood and I was interested in the premise of this film. The premise of this film sees a reporter stumble onto a story about the cia that ends up tormenting his life. Renner plays the lead reporter and he is absolutely fantastic in this film. He really delivered a great performance and you really care about this guy as you see him deteriorate over the film. His wife in the film was pretty good and had decent chemistry with renner. Unfortunately nobody else stands out in this film because of how good renner is. The story is good because it does a great job in showing his mans life really fall down because of one decision he makes. However, the first hour of the film is pretty convoluted as renner meets different people to get information and it doesn't feel that interesting. The script is really good with some real dialogue that is dramatic and funny as well. The style of the film is pretty intense which is good I just wish it had got a bit more intense. I wanted it to go even further with the intensity to build even more tension. Overall this is a solid tense film that is worth a watch.
