Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

In the battle of Austin and Seagal I have come to believe Austin is the better actor. The movie starts out improbable as a gang of men in masks, rob a grocery store, take hostages and issue demands. A grocery store? Now I know they get robbed, but by a gang who has to share the loot? SWAT team leader Austin ignores proper police protocol and raids the place, killing the thieves, injuring the hostages, and doing huge amounts of property damage. To their surprise they are not rewarded, but are forced to take SWAT team training again. Michael Jai White, a young Carl Weathers with a BB gun is part of the team. Lexa Doig is a third member. The upstairs of an abandoned(?) warehouse is set up with paper "bad guys" for the SWAT team to practice with simulation rounds. As fate would have it, two rival gangs are in the downstairs of the warehouse wanting "a case" which was stolen from them. One of the rival gangs learned to speak with bad Russian accents. I was waiting for one of them to say, "What about moose and squirrel."The dialouge was mildly humorous at times, a step up from Austin's other movies. The plot left much to be desired. There were no real plot twists except at the very end...and then it didn't make much sense. If you like Steve Austin movies, I think this was one of his better ones.F-bomb, no sex. no nudity, no moose or squirrel.

TACTICAL FORCE is another vehicle for bald, hulking, ex-wrestler turned actor Steve Austin, who seems to have become the new Seagal ever since he starred as a villain in Stallone's THE EXPENDABLES. So far, I've seen Austin in a passable variant of Van Damme's A.W.O.L. (called DAMAGE), but this is a straightforward shoot-em-up. It's as much fun as DAMAGE, proving that Austin is an adequate star for fans of light action. The premise and setting for this movie couldn't have been much cheaper: a small SWAT team are on a training exercise in an abandoned warehouse, but they soon find themselves assailed by various gangster types. Cue lots of drawn-out fight scenes and sequences of characters firing heavy weaponry at each other. It's a workable premise - Tarantino revealed the brilliance of utilising such a setting and a small cast twenty years ago in RESERVOIR DOGS - and the decent pacing makes it a painless viewing experience. The production values are a little weak if you look at them too closely, and it's fair to say that the cast are well-suited to B-movies; Austin is on particularly dodgy ground here, and would do better to just keep his mouth shut and hit people as that's what he does best. There are some heavyweights (physically rather than acting) in support, like Michael Jai White (just in case you wondered what happened to him after UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN) and the arresting Darren Shahlavi and Keith Jardine, but this looks and feels like a B-movie through and through. The action isn't bad, but I would have liked a little more of it. The requisite shoot-outs and fist-fights are fun, although the van chase is ridiculously stupid and some of the explosions are a little on the fake side. The ending is also a tad disappointing, getting too mixed up between the bad-bad characters and the good-bad characters. But I went into TACTICAL FORCE expecting nothing, and I got a mildly entertaining movie instead, so I can't complain too much.

I had pretty low expectations for this movie but it turned out a bit better than I thought it would be. The thing that drives this movie is that it doesn't take itself seriously and the constant comedic dialogue makes this movie watchable. Even when the characters get angry and obnoxious it's done in a comedic manner. If you take this movie seriously you might get a bit irritated but if you watch this with a open mind and watch it for what it is, it's actually watchable. I have to admit though the main reason I decided to watch this was because it as Steve Austin and Michael Jai White in the same movie. And they are the main characters in this. So the plot is this, after a group of LAPD SWAT team doesn't do there job the higher ups wanted they get forced to do a training exercise in a warehouse. But in the same warehouse coincidentally two rival gangs are fighting over a briefcase. The plot however suffers from plot holes and very stupid characters, but for a straight to DVD movie it's passable to some degree. For a straight to DVD movie with a very low budget this one is actually watchable, mediocre at best though.5.5/10

Alright after my brief hiatus, I am back int the world of B-Action movies and I would like to get this show on the road.I also would like to say that this movie is not complete trash. There are some appealing moments and some pretty good fight scenes for and action movie enthusiasts. It is unexpected to see quite a bit of familiar faces in this show. It stars todays B-Action heroes, Steve Austin, Micheal Jai White, Darren Shalavi and Kieth Jarradine. There are also some people you would notice if you are a fan of sci-fi, such as Micheal Shanks as a Russian gangster. This movie also stars Michael Eklund and Adrian Holmes.Honestly speaking, I did not have high hopes for this movie, seeing the opening of the movie was probably showing one the worst depictions of a swat team ever. But of course this movie was meant to be fun and not to be taken seriously. So the basic premise of this movie is this, "A training exercise for the LAPD SWAT Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar, armed with nothing but blanks." Thats about it.Actually there is much more than that. Threre is an item in a briefcase that scared most of the members of the swat team that the bad guys are after. They never really get into the subject of explaining what that item is. The movie leads us to believe that it is a bomb. This in which I already believe it to be pretty smart for the film of such caliber. The acting is pretty good for what its worth. Steve Austin once again gives his wooden acting a nice little push upwards adding a little humor in the dialog. But the most enjoyable dialog in this film is probably the back and forth insults between the Italian mobster and the Russian gangster. Both insulting each other while trying to get the 'package' The writing is pretty smart for what it is. And the directing is solid if albeit a little disjointed at times. But one thing is for sure, The action scenes are good. The fight scene between White and Shalavi is one to out for even though it is brief. The ending is has a big twist that even left me dumbfounded and a little confused. But hey it is a well made B- action movie that would suffice for anyone who has nothing to do on a Saturday night.
