Redundant and unnecessary.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

I'm not sure what's worse....Cage's hair dye, the wife that looks younger than the daughter or the tired plot. I'm now just using it as background noise while I write this review. If this was the only movie available to watch, I would probably schedule a dentist appointment to have a root canal done instead of watching this again. I like many movies that Nick Cage has done, and I will watch those. When I saw Danny Glover, I was really thinking that Mel Gibson may show up. More disappointment.

This movie was an absolute waste of 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Don't waste your time on it. Boring, drags on and on and on with very little story. Loser of a movie for Nicholas Cage. He is not aging well and needs to stay out of action movies. I use the term 'action movie' loosely in this description.Watch something better. Perhaps an old Bruce Willis movie or Conair.

Rage (2014) starring Nicolas Cage is another film in the recent catalog of Nic Cage where his film qualities have seemed to taken a hit. In the film, we see Cage in another film where he plays the same typical character of a hit-man or mob leader making anger expressions. Many of them are quite bad. But they're usually bad in an over-the-top or ridiculous way- they're rarely boring. This one is. It could have used a bit more of crazy Cage, and I believe the film swindles too much in the middle. A lot of predictability and nothing happening but a simple plot. The action is typical, very few between each scene and the acting isn't great. The standard of this film has a lot to do with Taken which seems like a direct lower in quality. The director also tries a twist at the ending, thinking with that in mind that it would make the film better (perhaps a little) but in general, it was too late and the film hadn't been that great either way. After watching the film, we all can see why this did not get a typical US theater release. ============================================================= As a rewatch (03/22/18'), the film is more engaging and interesting than initial lead to believe. It is a poorer version of Taken with less suspense, thrills and overall quality of a script but Rage remained enjoyable in some ways. Better than some of Nicolas Cage's more recent action thrillers. With a second viewing, the twist ending felt more predictable and obvious. Rating changed from 2 to 5. Worth a second viewing, though don't expect too much.

I was hoping for some good old classic criminals-messing-with-the-wrong-guy rather violent action movie when I sat down to watch this one. I was indeed expecting it to be a B-movie but being a B-movie does not necessarily make it a bad movie. Well I was right about it being a B-movie and it was indeed rather violent but for the rest it did not turn out to be exactly what I hoped for.Paul and his buddies does indeed start to crack down on the less desirable elements of society. This they do using the well-known strategy of applying a healthy dose of violence and if that does not work then you use more violence. In general the movie starts off fairly well but as we ride along it starts to degenerate into silly outbreaks of rage. I know the movie is called Rage (as well as Tokarev) but I was expecting the rage to be directed towards the bad guys and not just senseless shouting into the air. The further we go the more it degenerates. There is the classical cops-who-intervene-and-let-the-bad-guys-get-away stuff. Very annoying. The stupid screw-up of Danny and Paul's way of handling it was also a bit of a downer.Still, the movie was not all that bad until we reached the end. Well, the end does have a twist to it that has to be said. It also had to be said that I did not like it at all. Even if I could have gotten over the twist itself, the actions of Paul afterwards and the final scenes really sunk the movie for me.Nicolas Cage did not do a bad performance but, as far as I am concerned, he was given a less than stellar script to work with. Technically I would say that this was on the upper half of the scale for B-movies but the story, especially the ending, was not my cup of tea.
