Tango & Cash (1989)

Crime Lord Yves Perret, furious at the loss of income that Tango and Cash have caused him, frames the two for murder. Caught with the murder weapon on the scene of the crime, the two have no alibi. Thrown into prison with most of the criminals they helped convict, it appears that they are going to have to trust each other if they are to clear their names and catch the evil Perret.

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
'Tango & Cash (1989)' is a cheesy 80s movie, for sure, despite being released at the very end of that decade. While it's choppily edited (thanks, in part, due to its heavy initial censorship at the hands of the BBFC) and most of its silly set-pieces are essentially stolen from other, more successful attempts (mostly Jackie Chan's 'Police Story (1985)'), the piece provides the somewhat schlocky but still sort of undeniable fun you'd expect from such a picture. This is mainly due to the light tone and legitimate chemistry between its two stars - who both play refreshingly cheerful and slightly self-aware parts, especially when compared to Stallone's usually stone-faced repertoire. The production problems soon start to show, though, and the fun only stretches so far to cover-up the flick's fairly haphazard feel. The stupid plot-points and hammy acting (from essentially all except the leads) perforate most scenes to the point that you couldn't exactly call any of it technically 'good'. Yet, there's always that gnawing yet knowing sense that you're irreverently enjoying it, to an extent, despite all this. To be honest, that's the main thing. 6/10
6,3?!!! Really?!!! The only nominations it has are Razzie - Sylvester Stallone for the worst actor, Kurt Russell for supporting actress (I do not want to spoil by explaining this) and for the worst screenplay... I'm shocked! This is one of the mightiest crime action movies of all time, a cult movie as much as "Die Hard" is. Stallone and Russell are awesome tandem, the story is satisfying, action scenes are great, there are just enough funny lines, Teri is there to satisfy aesthetic needs, music by Yazoo and Alice Cooper,... Even I, who consider action movies to be the lowest type of cinematography, am thrilled. I'm sure there's no need to present this movie to those who grew up in the '80s and '90s, and you, kids of the 21st century, put it on your watch-lists immediately, and on top of it.9/10
When I was a kid, starting at maybe 9 or 10 years old, I would get the flu every year, without fail. For a week straight, I'd literally watch Tango & Cash every single day. Some years I would just wish for the flu.I cannot express to you how much I love this movie. This is the first time in probably 12 years that I've seen it, and I'm saddened it's been that long. There are so many great one-liners in this and the back and forth between Stallone and Russell is brilliant.Yeah the plot is a little ridiculous and some of the characters are a little over the top, but damn it if it doesn't put a smile on my face every time I see it. Add in an awesome score that I hum every now and then and a smoking hot Teri Hatcher and you've got yourself an unbelievably entertaining buddy cop film.Ending with the greatest high five in movie history, Tango & Cash is an action film that is borderline a parody of the action genre. Everything in this is big and ridiculous, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Tango & Cash is buddy cop action comedy film that features Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell in the title role together with Jack Palance and Teri Hatcher. It tells the story of two rival LAPD narcotics detectives - Ray Tango and Gabriel Cash. Both are forced to work together after criminal mastermind, Yves Perret, frames them for murder.Their partnership struggles at first due to difference in personalities as well as clashing egos. But they eventually learn to work together to bring down the drug lord who framed them. The film was definitely a bad buddy cop movie that is definitely not at the level of Lethal Weapon as the action is overdone and the comedic scenes provides little laughter.Despite the fact that both Stallone and Russell play each other very well,it does not provide anything new and groundbreaking except the fact that we have both actors playing together for the first time in a movie.
