I want to start this by confessing that I am a very big Conan fan and I have been since he originally started on Late Night. Something about an awkward redhead that didn't take himself seriously. That being said, this made me see him in a totally different light and that isn't entirely positive.Conan is at the low point in his career and is obviously upset when he decides to start his Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour. You'd think that this would change his demeanor, but that isn't the case. He becomes more and more volatile but still goes through the motions and spends times with his fans but it is so half-hearted. This make the usually lovable and likable guy, not very likable at all. Seeing that changed my view of Conan and show how fake he can be.That is the brilliance of this doc, a comedic genius trying to keep the laughs going while he is miserable internally. He shows his soft side and how vulnerable he was and manages to crack sarcastic jokes at his own peril. If you expect to see the usual Coco, you could be disappointed but you see a part that TV never shows.Did you know he introduced NAS and Damien Marley?

CONAN O'BRIEN CAN'T STOP (2011) *** TV talk-show comic host Conan O'Brien's inspired Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television" stand-up concert tour – in response to his being unceremoniously bounced from NBC's "The Tonight Show"/Jay Leno fiasco allows documentarian Rodman Flender full access to the comedian's attempts to adapt to the ongoing frustrations of performing, maintaining his sanity and daily odds-on battles with his personae – nice guy comic or misanthropic egotistical jerk (more so the former, frankly) – with his sidekick Andy Richter, special guests Jack White, Jack Black, Kyle Gass, Jim Carrey, Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart and Jack McBrayer – that manages to keep tabs with the pent up anger at his mistreatment and his personal goals of being funny (sounds harder than it is). Funny, glib, witty, snarky and clever by a mile – the film, like its subject – can be pricky and sweet at the same time and trust me edgy comedy is always the best in the long run. Go Coco!!

I loved every bit of this film. It is funny and sweet, touching and honest. If you like Conan then it's a must see, and if you know someone who doesn't love Conan, take them to see this movie; they will still love it. It's the first documentary I see that is not a historical, scientific or something disaster related. Rodman Flender did wonderfully by putting together this classy portrait of one of the toughest times any gifted performer could go through. Conan handled this whole situation with endless grace, and he deserved nothing less than a well put and honest portrayal of this period. Sharing this is yet another sign of graciousness from Conan & Co, as well as trust in the fans whose support was a major force behind the tour and subsequently the movie. This film is a nice recap of the "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television" tour for those who didn't get a chance to see it last summer, it is also a wonderful chance to relive the experience for those of us who were lucky enough to see the show live. Thank you Conan, we hope you never HAVE to go through this again.
