I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

The final installment of original The Lost Boys Trilogy . Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) is stressed as well as bankrupted and he has to sell his valuable comic book collection just to pay rent on a decrepit trailer that is ultimately evicted . Shortly after , a best-selling vampire novelist called Gwen (Tanit Phoenix) approaches with an offer . She needs him to encounter her sibling who has gone missing after getting sucked into a series of underground raves , called The Gathering , run by a mysterious spinner named DJ X (Seb Castang) . As DJ Dusk is the head vampire and utilizing his parties to raise his undead henchmen . Being given a new party , Edgar must assemble a vamp-hunting bunch , being accompanied by Zoe (Casey Dolan) , his brother Alan (Jamison Newlander) who is dealing with his own dark demons , along with a Hollywood participant of reality show called Lars von Goetz (Stevan Van Nieker) and the cameraman Claus (Joe Vaz) . The rave will take place in a slaughterhouse on enigmatic island , there they meet DJ Dusk X , a pack of bloodsuckers and hoodlums . Before the fighting is over Edgar will find out there is a greater evil and must take on his most astonishing fears. This eerie picture displays terror , thriller , humor with tongue-in-cheek , violence , chills and loads of blood and guts . The movie contains great load of action , special effects abundant made by 3D computer generator and numerous scenes have you on edge of your seat . However , it fails to deliver either frights or laughs . The screenwriter provides a very serviceable and passable-knit plot with suspense , haunting tension , horror and improbable situations . In this one , there is a spectacular rave party and a powerful drug , known as The Thirst , which resulted out to be a mixture of vampire blood and ecstasy . The title became a direct-to-DVD hit smash , making back its medium budget in just some weeks of DVD sales . Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog again plays a vampire hunter with a sympathetic and enticing attitude . Corey Haim returned as well , but only for some flashback scenes . Despite turning down a role in the sequel , Corey Haim announced he would take part in a third and fourth installment . But he died before anything could come of the project . The original and best film of the trilogy was ¨The Lost boys¨ (1987) by Joel Schumacher with Jason Patric , Kiefer Sutherland , Jami Gertz , Corey Feldman , Corey Haim , Dianne Wiest , Barnard Hughes , Edward Herrmann . The first sequel titled ¨Lost Boys : the tribe¨ by P.J. Pesce was starred by Tad Hilgenbrick ,Angus Sutherland , Donald's brother , and Corey Feldman , of course . Due to poor critical as well as public response of Lost Boys : The Tribe , Corey Feldman was promoted to the main character in ¨The thirst¨ . While the other Frog brother Jamison Newlander, only appeared in an alternate ending found on the DVD . The Tribe saw the return of Corey Haim and Corey Feldman , famous couple by that time , in the 80s playing two Peter Cushing teens , both of whom made several films as likable adolescent duo ; however today they only play B movies . While filming ¨The tribe¨ Feldman told that the Frog Brothers will reunite for this third installment , titled ¨Lost Boys: The Thirst ¨ by Dario Piana ; sadly Corey Ham doesn't repeat role being recently dead . The motion picture was regularly directed by Dario Pesce , a filmmaker expert on terror , such as he proved in ¨The deaths of Ian Stone¨. Produced by Warner Premiere , the studio behind the latter two sequels , but it went bankrupt and all ¨The Lost Boys¨ franchise schemes were abandoned . The flick will appeal to vampire genre fans and is especially aimed at juvenile audiences.

Sorry Corey Feldman just doesn't do it for me. He might have possibilities in other movies, but this movie certainly did not help his career. A washed up, child star gone bad. I guess if you are into the vampire craze Lost Boys: The Thirst might turn you on, but probably not. He pretty much growls through the movie. I would NOT waste your time watching this movie. I made it through about 20 minutes of the film and was NOT impressed. The current score of 5.4 is very generous for this movie. I think a score of 1, maybe 2 might be more appropriate. Save your money, don't go see this film, do NOT rent it. There are plenty of other movies to keep you entertained these day.

First off, the decision to shoot the film in South Africa was clearly beneficial. The whole look of the film, the quality of the special effects, especially the plane jump sequence and the plethora of vampire kills were all great! I have to say I was excited when I first heard that Dario Piana was drafted to direct this instalment as I knew he was capable of delivering something great - going by what I'd witnessed in The Deaths of Ian Stone. He really met my expectations and I hope that he will be optioned to return if plans go ahead on the next film. The storyline and characters were handled much better this time around, much more likable - Edgar's companions in particular. I liked the Zoe character and felt she was really good as the quirky comic book worker. The senator turned weapons expert, the cocky movie star and his cameraman sidekick all brought something to the table. When it comes to Corey and Jamison, they never fail to deliver! They really do own those roles and I wouldn't want to see anyone other than them stepping into those shoes. Seeing them together again in that opening sequence - side by side hunting vamps in DC... truly awesome! It was a fun tie in to the comic book and really set the tone for the rest of the film. I hope that the follow up will be similar in feel and feature a full on Frog Bros blood-hunt. Also the motion comic titles worked well, much more enjoyable than the cringe worthy O.C style opening credit sequence from The Tribe. The 'Cry Little Sister' cover by Aiden felt slightly shoe horned in. Admittedly I'm not a fan of the band or their sound and wish someone else could have contributed their own cover. Regardless of this, I thought the soundtrack for this one was actually pretty good. The look of the vampires was definitely closer to the mark. Quite toned down in comparison to the OTT prosthetics used in The Tribe. I also felt that Jamison's vampire look was most favourable and more faithful to The Lost Boys - less From Dusk Till Dawn. The vampires themselves were okay, yet a bit cheesy at times. They had the look down but the charm and mystique that was there with the original boys was somewhat missing. That aside, they did deliver on a battle for The Frogs to show their steel and that's what I'd been hoping for! I found the Gwen character a little hard to swallow, this was most likely brought on by my distaste for Twilight and Stephanie Meyer. Edgar's dig at the vampire romance novels was great, said exactly what we horror fans have been thinking.I loved the references to the original film as well as the characters Star, Michael and Laddie. It's comforting to know that they are still very much out there. I was thrilled to hear Corey and Jamison discussing the idea of bringing Chance back as Laddie. As they established with this film, his character is leading a life of normalcy with a wife and kids - I can only imagine some kind of twist that will pull him back to the world that he left behind! This is one of many things that The Tribe lacked - the opportunity to really open up the story and allow the viewers imagination to do some work on it's own.The flashback sequences featuring Corey Haim as Sam Emerson were quite eerie, especially knowing that the film was completed prior to his passing. It felt like such a fitting tribute and I'd be lying if I said I didn't well up a bit, especially when Edgar placed the Batman # 14 upon Sam's grave. If Corey Haim could have seen this, I'm sure he would have been proud.Overall, the film was definitely a step in the right direction! It's not a masterpiece by any means and we all know that the first film is an extremely tough act to follow. This much is for sure, they did a great job with the resources that they had and I'll be happy to place the film side by side with the original. If the decision is made to produce another chapter, you can most definitely count me in. These fun spin-off movies trump those crappy remakes any day!

Another chapter to The Lost Boys; boy do I remember the day when Lost Boys fans were craving for a sequel, now they're just cranking them out like hot bread. The Tribe was a bit of a disappointment to me, it was too average and didn't have the same charm as the first film had, but then again what a challenge it had to arise too. But The Thirst was something that I was afraid of, where it seems that they are just trying to cash in. But I do have to admit that this film was a little more clever with it's ideas and at least wasn't trying to copy the first Lost Boys. Instead we follow the Frog Brothers and see how far they have come with their business. It's sad that only 2 original cast members could join this movie, sadly we lost Corey Haim this year and will never see him in another Lost Boys movie again but to not see any other of the old cast was a little sad. I think it would have been interesting if the little boy Laddie had joined the Frog Brothers. It seems like the Frog Brothers just skimp over what happened to the other characters and are back into the story.Edgar and Alan Frog interrupt a half-vampire Senator who is killing a Congressman to finish his transformation into a full-vampire, but in the ensuing chaos Alan is forced to drink vampire blood, which will transform him into a half-vampire himself. Five years later in San Cazador, California, back at his trailer, Edgar is approached by Gwen Lieber, a writer of romantic vampire novels, whose brother Peter was kidnapped during a rave, and she suspects vampiric activity. She gives him a vial of a drug called "The Thirst" which is given to people at raves hosted by a person known as "DJ X"; he determines that it is vampire blood. Edgar visits Alan, who is now half vampire and satisfies his thirst for blood by feeding on animal blood acquired in his job as a taxidermist. Edgar tries to enlist Alan's aid in stopping DJ X from raising an army through his raves, but he refuses, having lost all hope that he can be saved. After a visit to Sam's grave, in which Edgar returns to Sam the Batman #14 that Sam had boasted having when they met, Edgar finds that Alan has left him a book of vampire history to help in his mission. Edgar gives the book to Zoe to research. She is attacked by a vampire, but she and Edgar defeat it, and she explains what she has learned about a ritual sacrifice during a Blood Moon, such as the one that will occur the night of the rave. The Thirst has a more interesting story than The Tribe, but I would be lying if I said that I enjoyed it fully. I don't know if it was the direction or the actors, but a lot of things just seemed off key. From one minute it's an action movie and then the next it's a detective story then a horror story then a comedy, etc. The Thirst couldn't decide what it wanted to be so I couldn't decide if it was a good enough film to recommend. Since I'm such a huge fan of The Lost Boys I made the risky decision of buying first without seeing, so I'll probably watch the film again but for right now I'm not too impressed. It just seems like Corey Feldman is really trying hard to hold onto those days where he was the awesome tough movie star and I can't take him seriously in the film. The film style is too trendy for my tastes and just could have been handled in a better way as the action scenes are too hard on the eyes. I would say if you're looking to see where the story continues, this is an alright movie to catch, but as of a horror movie you could safely skip it.5/10
