A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

When a video game is turned into a movie, it's usually done very poorly. Movies like Super Mario Bros., Resident Evil, Need for Speed, and others have been panned by critics for not being well translated to the silver screen. I don't know why that is, maybe it's because it doesn't have the same passion that the game has, or maybe it's because the makers of the film haven't even touched the game in their lives. I bring this up because the move I'm reviewing today, "Ratchet and Clank", is based on a very successful PlayStation platform-shooter. Critics have panned this movie for not being translated well to the big screen. Now having finally seen it, I'll say this. It's not as bad as what many critics have been saying, but it's certainly not a good movie and I mean by any means. The story focuses on a Lombax named Ratchet (James Arnold Taylor). He's a spaceship mechanic and dreams of wanting to become a member of the Galactic Rangers led by the egotistical Captain Qwark (Jim Ward). One day, he bumps into a defect robot that he calls Clank (David Kaye) who warns of an impending invasion of robots into a populated city led by a robot lieutenant played by Sylvester Stallone. How was Clank created you ask? By a cliché lightning strike that happened when the villain's accomplice, a mad scientist, does his evil laugh. Yeah, just go with it. After defeating the army and earning praise from the city, Ratchet becomes a Galactic Ranger while poor Clank is pushed into a broom closet with the tactical supporter (Rosario Dawson). So it's up to Ratchet and the others to stop a planet destroyer built by a villain who I only remember because he was played by Paul Giamatti.I knew I was in for trouble when I saw the movie had eight production companies. Yes, you read that right. Eight companies who obviously didn't review the film and just sent it into theaters. But let;'s not talk about the companies, let's talk about the film itself. The biggest problem with "Ratchet and Clank" is the editing and it's really, really bad. The movie is so rushed and just wants to get itself over with. It also would just randomly cut to the next scene not very properly and it just left me very confused.  Some scenes made me think that they were cut scenes just taken from the new game itself, particularly a scene where Ratchet demonstrates some weapons. The story is also not very good. It's not awful, but it's just standard. We've seen some elements before and it does nothing really new with them. With that said though, there are a couple funny jokes in this film. Not a lot, but some where funny enough to get a chuckle out of me. For example, a character that falls does the famous Wilhelm Scream and one of his buddies shouts "Wilhelm!" to him. I'll admit that was pretty clever. I just wish the rest of the film was like that. The characters, with the exception of the leads which I'll get to later, are pretty forgettable. I really don't remember their names or what personalities they had particularly the villains who I only remember based on what they look like. One character that I partially hated throughout the movie was Captain Quark. I can't stand egotistical characters and this character was so unlikable and just absorbed of himself that I really just wanted to punch him. The animation I'm pretty split about. Some times the characters models look like there ready for a theatrical release while others looked like they were made for a direct-to-DVD movie. But by far, the best element of the movie are actually the main characters themselves, Ratchet and Clank. They both have likable personalities and have a friendship which is actually relatable. Now had the film focused more on the friendship focusing on the two of them, we probably would have a good movie. However, that was not the case."Ratchet and Clank" is a pretty unbalanced movie. It had promise, but in my opinion it failed to deliver at parts. It's certainly not a bad video game movie as trust me there have been far worse movies, but it's definitely not a good one. To be honest, I think it's pretty forgettable. It's not a bad time waster for kids as it's pretty harmless, but to be honest I would just get them that new Ratchet and Clank game instead.

Rotten Tomatoes really shoved their head up theirs for this movie. It's not perfect. There are some cringe-worthy jokes and the movie, in general, is very childish. But for a childish VIDEO GAME based movie, it offers good voice-acting, movie cliché references, video game references, great action scenes, and a good message for kids. If you like Ratchet and Clank's cheesy writing from the game, I recommend this movie for you guys. Easily the best video game based movie I have ever seen. If you are still not sure, go on Netflix and take a look at it yourself. I also recommend watching the movie with surround sound as it really was an adventure for me personally when I was watching at the theater. I'll easily give it a 7/10

Ratchet an clank is the film adaptation of the famous video game franchise created by insomniac games, this movie i was initially very excited for when they announced it because i being a big fan of the franchise loved the idea of this film and to see what they would do with the property in film adaptation, although i was somewhat disappointed with the film i still had fun watching it and gave me a good few laughs.Plot The first thing i noticed when i was watching the film is that the writers relied heavily on the fans and the game, this aspect isn't necessarily a bad thing but if the whole film relies on the fans and jokes that only the fans will only understand it doesn't really attract people that are only witnessing it for the first time which in my opinion is distracting, another aspect this film relies on is cheap humour, cheap humour is a major turn off in films in general in my opinion and it is extremely obvious that the humour is more aimed for the demographic of children which isn't a bad thing but personally i do not like any type of cheap humour. The discussion of the plot is hard for me because even though it has its problems it does do these characters justice and i personally enjoyed myself through the majority of the film with the clever jokes and call backs to the game(in the form of the weapons arsenal)this leads to the movie being extremely self aware which is a mix between a blessing and a curse, but the problem i have with this movie is the fact that the set up of the actual plot takes up a lot of time and ultimately leads to a dragged out 2nd act and fairly OK 3rd act,the introductions of certain aspects of this universe isn't handled in the greatest way expecting the viewer to remember all these planets, characters, locations and motivations.Characters The characters in this film range from heavily based and inspired by the game to very generic and stereotypical, this range between characters is quite apparent and leads to the character interactions being predictable and the personalities of some characters being generic and underdeveloped, the designs of the characters are extremely loyal to the games and one aspect of this film i absolutely respect and happy that they decided to have relatively simple but loyal designs, easily the best character in this film is quark, the character of quark in this film is extremely loyal to the games and is his usual over confident, cocky self which was the biggest highlight of the film for me in a movie filled with stereotypical characters.Overall i have mixed opinions on this film and easily the best video game adaptation so far by default, even though i love the franchise and was a big part of my childhood this film did not exceed or fall under my expectations and was an enjoyable experience and a good way to spend an hour and a half if u are a fan of this franchise but for me this film was extremely average. 6 out of 10

If there was ever a movie I could kick myself for going to see it would be this one, I mean what the heck was I thinking going to see this joke of a movie? And the theater I went to see it in charge nine dollars to go see it and it was without a shadow of a doubt the worst movie I ever spend on a movie ticket. If You wanted to see a movie based off a video game you be better off watching a fan made video game movie because they have done a better job than this joke of a movie. At first it started off with a good promise to have been a family movie but as the movie went on I was waiting for the movie to be over. It just got worse as the movie went on all this movie is about is a retelling on the story of Ratchet & Clank which I never play any of the games and thanks to this movie it's highly doubtful that I will ever play them. The voice acting in the game is some of the most disappointing I ever heard it's like the actors and actresses didn't even try just like they were there to pick up a paycheck which from what I learn this movie bomb so it's highly the DVD sales will make up the differenceThe Animation in the movie had is fair share of impressive work but it just feels like you're watching a video game movie nothing more nothing less.I swear I couldn't even begin to rant about how much I hated this movie if there was one movie I wish I didn't see it would be this one because it is just awful and such a waste of time do yourself a favor never watch this movie.I give Ratchet & Clank an 2 out of 10
