Serenity (2005)

Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Why the amazing reviews? I had to turn off after about 20 minutes! watched The Simpson instead.
Serenity was originally a television show on the FOX network back in the early 2002-2003 era. It was created by Josh Whedon. It ran for one season before stupid executives for FOX cut it from their lineup. One of the dumbest, moronic things I've seen from executives who have their heads up their asses.The show is original and provides a fantastic cast. It has great writing for the scripts of the television show and as well, the movie. The special effects are good enough, but not the best. The plots are solid. The dialog filled with one liners. Minor love interests. Action. A conclusion which is left unfinished and unfortunately will never have a proper ending.The movie does have some issues but them are minor and don't break the viewers ability to suspend reality to enjoy the show or movie. Space cowboy/rebels left over from a Civil War attempting to make a living on the outskirts of space away from the government which is corrupt and dominating.There is a lot of unsolved and resolved issues in the story but with this movie and the series you get enough of the picture to know what is going on with the characters and their past.Eveyone should enjoy this movie except for the kids. There is some violence and blood in the movie and there is also a lot of adult themes.Overall I rate this as one of the better movies in my collection. It makes my top 25 movie list.
While there are traces of the TV format in its directing style which reduce the overall effect, and the characters are a little one-dimensional, this space pirate actioner has plenty up its tabard sleeve to delight audiences of the TV series and moviegoers unaccustomed to it. The humour, wit and snappy dialogue is always on the money, the action well orchestrated, and the plot is spun and weaved well enough for the splendid optical effects to hang and gleam.
Some films are just utterly sympathetic. This is one of those. It's a great adventure flick. Not pretentious or deep, but most certainly not ahallow or cheap. Well made, well acted a perfect balance between style and substance. I love this film. When I forst saw it, it charmed my butt off, and now, ten years later, having seen it for the second time, it is just as amusing and nice. If you want to be entertained by quality, this is your movie.
