This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey is a film you'll either love or passionately despise. It's an unpredictable crime drama that combines violence and dark humor in a manner that's reminiscent of the films of Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie and the Coen Brothers. And yet Kaminey is so original and inventive in the manner in which it takes Bollywood's favorite formula - twin brothers - and turns it on its head. The real strength of Kaminey is its writing. The non-linear screenplay is filled with unfamiliar twists and confusing turns that are likely to baffle you along the way; yet they're all neatly tied up and culminate in a thrilling climax which is violent and comical in equal parts. The film's dialogue is top-notch; writer-director Vishal Bharadwaj finds a way to make the lines humorous without ever seeming to ask for a laugh.Kaminey boasts the best performance you will see by an ensemble cast in a long time, and that includes even the bit players.Of the central cast, Amole Gupte is fantastic as the demented Jai Maharashtra-spouting gangster-politician Bhope, and Chandan Roy Sanyal hits all the right notes as the coke-addicted Mikhail. Also delivering impressive turns are Tenzing Nima as the charismatic drug-smuggler Tashi and Shiv Subramanium as the vulnerable corrupt cop Lobo.Shahid Kapur rises to the challenge of creating two entirely different characters out of Charlie and Guddu, and delivers a credible performance as each.Breaking out of his chocolate-boy image, he gives evidence of his potential when trusted with well-written roles.Springing a delightful surprise in a smaller part is Priyanka Chopra as the feisty Sweety, who sprinkles her lines with a smattering of fluent Marathi and emerges one of the film's most lovable characters. For an audience numbed by predictable Bollywood potboilers week after week, Kaminey might take some time to settle into; go in with an open mind and enjoy the ride. With unchoreographed action scenes and dances, and long portions with no background score at all, it's a wildly imaginative, original offering from a fearless filmmaker who doesn't insult your intelligence.I'm going with 10 out of 10 for director Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey; amidst all the bloodshed and bullets, this film has a full beating heart. As Charlie would say: It's a MUFT-WATCH

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd clear the air about this oh-so-popular song that everyone is fawning over. Dhan Te Nan is a RIP-OFF of the theme song from the Kenyan TV drama called "Tushauriane" . Tushauriane was a TV show which aired in the mid-late 80's and the theme would play any time one of the characters was in danger. The theme was instrumental, featuring trumpets (not people singing "Dhan te nan..ten tanen" like in Kaminey) and if you heard it, you would recognize it immediately. Ask any kenyan who is familiar with "Tushauriane" and he/she will tell you the same. It's not likely you'll find the theme song on the net, unless you find a video recording of the show for sale somewhere. It really is an awesome theme.I'm glad VB was honest about where he got the screenplay for Kaminey ( a Kenyan wrote it) but it's too bad he didn't also come clean about Dhan te Nan coz it is completely taken from Tushauriane's theme song. Still, it makes me proud to see that Kenya's inspiring India's movies so heavily. Kaminey's not bad for an action movie! Cheers! CN

'Kaminey' follows Ram Gopal Verma's style of execution. Having worked with Gopal Verma, Vishal Bhardwaj has obviously adapted some of his style. This is very different from Bhardwaj's previous films and it certainly does not measure up to any of them. The story is not too different from any other gangster flick but it is treated well. It is perhaps Bhardwaj's most energetic film but at the same time it also follows a slow pace. The cinematography is competent. The songs are quite funny. Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra are quite good but I liked Chandan Roy Sanyal the most as Charlie's wacky friend. Though I found 'Kaminey' to be enjoyable, it still lags behind when compared to Bhardwaj's previous films which are close to masterworks. To me 'Kaminey' had nothing new or much to offer. I suppose the director wanted to make something rather mainstream and he succeeds at that but what's next?

really i don't know why this movie takes all this stars it has nothing, the script was awful, no acting , no good songs, just a waste of time. i think that's the worst movie i have seen this year, i taught that it would be great but unfortunately this movie was so bad.so just for the people that want to watch it, safe your time and your money, this movie don't deserves it. this year may be one of the worst years in the history of Bellwood, just i'm looking for 2010. if you think that i'm wrong just go and see it and you will found a movie without the sens of the cinema. once again, Indian movies can't give us what we expect.
