It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The movie really just wants to entertain people.
One of the earliest Louis de Funès films, and rather underrated. I am not a De Funès specialist, I admit. But always the same features starring him are usually aired on french broadcasts. Always the same ones, unfortunately. This one is not among them. I got it in DVD. De Funès is the greatest french comic actor of all times, and always will be. It is a delight to Watch such a pure french comedy. OK I agree that American audiences would not appreciate this kind of movie. The story itself is not so terrific. Just Watch and let you go, laugh... These french comedy flicks from the early sixties are easily available in DVD releases.
