Popcorn and Ice Cream (1978)

I love this movie so much

One of my all time favorites.

Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

"Popcorn und Himbeereis" or "Popcorn and Ice Cream" is a West German 90-minute movie from 1978, so this one will soon have its 40th anniversary. If you read the names of Austrian director Franz Josef Gottlieb and Israeli lead actor Zachi Noy ("Lemon Popsicle"), you will know exactly what to expect here: something we in German call "Klamauk", a sex-oriented comedy with lots of female nudity that has no scenes of intercourse though that would classify it as porn. Instead, it is all along the humor from Noy's movie series (fittingly it also has a sweet dish for the title) I already mentioned. It's pretty harmless overall, even if we see bare breasts and full frontal nudity from women. But to me it always felt as if it was about the comedy only and everything else is just means to making it a funny and entertaining watch. Sadly, it is none of these things. The writing is bad from start to finish, the characters are too many and they are not elaborated on properly in terms of who they are and what they do. The humor relies mostly on situational comedy, but it's very rarely working. Noy probably still elevates the material as he is a funny guy, even if he always plays the same characters. It's another trash film by Gottlieb and there is no real reason to check it out. I personally give it a thumbs-down and not even the girls were hot, at least the majority was not. On a final side-note: In the German title it refers to the ice cream having raspberry flavor.

Almost 30 years after I've seen this erotic comedy in a German movie theater it is now released on DVD. It's nostalgic erotic cinema at its best! The German teenage sex queens Olivia Pascal, Gesa Gabor, Uschi Buchfellner and Bea Fiedler star in this hot B-picture comedy which mixes bad jokes, disco music of the Seventies and lots of beautiful naked teenage queens. There have been better and sexier comedies of the kind starring Olivia Pascal and Ursula Buchfellner, but it still is great entertainment. It has all the atmosphere of Germany in the 1970s and arouses great memories of that time.Great picture and sound quality and very enjoyable. Jasper P. Morgan

I have seen this movie a few times on Cinemax. It does not have much of a story but it has the typical European humor to it. A funny part of the film is where the female cop writes a parking ticket to the guy she slept with. At the end of the movie when the guy is trying to decide on which color of condom to use and then the house (I forget what building structure it really was) starts to rock back and forth after they went inside of it. There were other good parts to this movie but it has been a long time since I have seen it. It has been many years since I have seen it on cable TV. Until I saw the reviews other left on this website I thought most people had forgotten about this movie altogether. It is no longer available on video. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this movie? I would like to add it to my video collection.

I just bought this film, and it didn't disappoint. It's exactly as I remembered. Two lovely ladies lose some money between two mattresses. They then have to sleep around to find the missing loot. The portly Zachi Noy costars as a peeping tom. Great film! Lots of nudity! Awesome!
