I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

A friend showed me this movie yesterday and I viewed it with no expectations or knowledge of what it was. It reminded me of a movie that middle year high school kids would make, there are no funny jokes, the plot line is lame, the acting is unashamedly bad - for very large stretches it is boring, but that boredom is interspersed revolting elements - like a guy showing his naked rear end on screen for a long period, someone torturing a chicken to death during a sex scene, divine eating a piece of fresh dog feces. I don't understand what anyone could get out of it, and I don't like seeing animal cruelty. What offended me was not that the chicken was killed, but that it was tortured.

I was so shocked with "Pink Flamingos" that it's hard, I mean really hard to give my opinion about it. "Pink Flamingos" was so difficult to watch. I was not expecting anything like this. I felt nauseated while watching some scenes of the film and I can't understand why this was made. The war between Connie & Raymond Marble against Divine for the title of "The Filthiest Person Alive" almost drove me mad, because i could count with my fingers the number of minutes when happened normal things in "Pink Flamingos". I know that probably you think I am being too rude, mostly because "Pink Flamingos" it's a classic and a well known cult movie but I thought it was sick and nasty. But, even though I felt nauseated with the film, I had to admit that John Waters gave a touch of weirdness and style to the film. And even though I don't ever want to see it again, this poorly acted filthy movie will remain in cinema history as a cult classic. The scene when Divine eats dog feces was really difficult to watch but I believe that was the right way to end this nasty classic. I did not enjoyed it, no sir, but it was so shocking that I still feel that it is a must see for everyone who loves cinema.

This is the first John Waters movie I saw that I can't recommend multiple viewings-it almost made me sick the second viewing, oh well. Without going into the plot as I'm sure most viewers know by now, it's a love it or hate it movie, but I give it at 10 for its time of originality. I for one like Serial Mom with Kathleen Turner, also by John Waters, a lot better than this. This may have been his first movie ever made, but Serial Mom was my first JW movie, therefore it's my favorite. Different tastes for different people, I guess. Even though I did like the film, I felt two viewings was plenty, Serial Mom I've lost count with how many times I've watched that, I even own it, so you can tell I love that one, a friend of mine has Pink Flamingoes that I bought for him, and I'm happy with that. It is funny but gross, so I like it, I don't love it.
