Episode 2 - Struggle for identity

Early 90s: Hip hop is political and the message is spread in German. In Frankfurt, the Rödelheim Hartreim project, among others, makes headlines. But with the Fantastischen Vier, four German guys from outside the scene emerge and celebrate enormous success. Azad, Sido, Moses Pelham, Celo & Abdi and Jeyz, among others, tell the story of how hip hop rapidly becomes so big.

Episode 3 - Against the current

In 2000, a new era in hip hop begins with Azad. It's about poverty, integration, sex, drugs and violence. In Berlin, Aggro Berlin made headlines. The rappers see themselves as outlaws who hold up a mirror to society with their music. But the image of evil brings hip hop down. Sido, Azad, Bazzazian, Chima or Murat Güngör, among others, tell how this happened.

With Haftbefehl, gangster rap reaches a new hype from 2010. Hip hop becomes Germany's most successful music genre. And more and more women have made a name for themselves.
