Welcome to LIGHT SPEED! Join Derek Muller of Veritasium and meet the bright minds (and understand the physics) behind the world's most advanced solar cars. They will race more than 3000 kilometers through the Australian outback to test their technology and teamwork. In doing so, they risk life and limb to make a better and more sustainable world.
And there they go! Under the bright desert sun, our participants encounter their first obstacles. Extreme heat, dangerous winds and wildfires are a sign of the Australian outback taking hold. But the dangers of experimental technology go even further and a spontaneous fire in a battery is a disaster for one of the teams.
It's day two and the teams are starting to use tactics. They push their technology to the limit and take it one step further.
800 kilometers from the finish line. The remaining teams persist through heat and wind, some more successfully than others.
On the fourth day, the teams rush to make repairs as thunder and lightning and a strong wind raid their camp.
In the final of our 3,000-mile trek through the outback, things take a sharp turn for one of the teams. The remaining teams struggle to survive, but only one can win!
