Kathy is in a tough situation when a little girl asks for help with her alcoholic mother. Meanwhile, Dr. Buckley tries to intercede between a paroled drunken driver and the widower whose wife he killed and Tess copes with her autistic son.
Kathy attempts to help a date-rape victim, and Nando lends support to an addict about to be married. Meanwhile, Dr. Buckley is surprised when he meets his former fiancee, and Tess searches for a residence for her autistic son, while Lily begins her search for her birth parents.
Kathy is angry when her father decides to sell the family home and Lily has a patient who falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Dr. Buckley tries to spend time with his former fiancee and help a boxer seeking political asylum and Nando keeps adding vending machines to the center.
An arrogant doctor joins the staff of the center, and a patient of Dr. Buckley claims her life's in danger because she witnessed a murder. Meanwhile, Lily is told the identity of her birth mother and Kathy tries to help a teen plagued by a mysterious illness.
Kathy and Gary argue but when he's wounded she rushes to his side. Meanwhile, Dr. Buckley tries to choose between Lily and Stephanie and Nando attempts to help a gang member.
