The Boss Is Coming to Dinner was an Australian programme, based on the UK version. The series is by Shine Australia for the Nine Network. The show see three nervous applicants will host a dinner party in their own home to impress their potential employer. After an evening at their homes, the candidates all take part in an employment challenge, where the boss reduces the field from three to two. The top two are then invited to the boss’s home for dinner and the final judgement. On 1 October 2010, Channel Nine dropped the whole series following low ratings, leaving behind some of the remaining unaired episodes.

Both Holly and Lizzie want to work for celebrity salon owner Julie Williams. Julie though is unimpressed by Holly's constant partying and Lizzie's nervousness.
Liz ends up sacrificing her 21st birthday celebrations to meet with Julie whilst unemployed Emma hopes her enthusiasm and three course dinner will make an impression that will not be forgotten. Both the girl's mums are determined to put in a good word for their respective daughters.
The candidates continue to try and impress Julie.

Casting agent Mark Summers is looking to recruit a new artist promotions manager. Elin tries to win Mark over by creating a Scandinavian feast. Jake uses an old friend to cook the meal as he hopes to impress.
Kevin and Sam battle it out today as they both hope to impress their prospective new boss in their own homes.
Ex-casting agent Michelle attempts to impress Mark by cooking a home-cooked lasagne. Michelle manages to make a good first impression with Mark but things start to go downhill when he asks her questions her on the subject of her failed business. Nick creates an exotic jambalaya to try and impress Mark.

Veterinary nurse Kate is able to impress dog-grooming guru Gill with her experience and her well-trained dog. Mhairi's hopes that her secret weapon which is a group of poodles will impress.
John's good looks and excellent cuisine as well as his experience in dog training manage to impress Gill. Gill next meets busy mum Nicky, who has four boisterous dogs of her own but is used to cutting human hair and not dogs.
Emma hopes that her gargantuan feast will impress Gill. Emma's lack of professional experience with animals is a concern for Gill though. Sarah, who has several years' experience of working with dogs and horses under her belt is the second person out to impress Gill.
