French report summarising the events of 25 April 1974, the seizure of power by the "captains" of the Portuguese army who opposed the colonial war in the country and in the capital. Report by French television ORTF for the "Magazine 52" programme on the events of 25 April. The report follows the forces of the Armed Forces Movement (MFA) in their action in Lisbon, from the Carmo barracks to Caxias prison, on the outskirts of Lisbon.

The journalist meets various protagonists of the coup d'état and opposition activists, each of whom gives their version and their hopes for the movement that has just been born and which allows the return of political exiles on the eve of the 1st of May, as feared by the risk of provocation as it is ardently desired by the opposition. Pedro Feytor Pinto, former director of information for Marcello Caetano's government; Jean Barreto, from the anarchist movement; Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, one of the leaders of the MFA; the intellectuals Pereira de Moura, an economist, and Tavares Rodrigues, a writer; Mário Soares, who has just returned and, finally, Rafael Duarte, a commander who reports on the circumstances of the coup d'état.
