Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Such a frustrating disappointment
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
I am surprised that no user has commented it yet. I saw this gem when I was a kid, and I remember it as it was yesterday. In the detail. A gangster story we don't use to wait for from the french movie industry.Maurice Ronet and Jean Servais give here outstanding performances in hoods characters. Servais is the oldest ones among the godfathers and his son, played by Antonio Cantafora, want to replace him at the top if the organization. With the help of ambitious and ruthless Ronet. In blood, violence and pain. With of course predictable results.A fairly good actioner made in France, typical of the seventies. No flaw in this movie, as far as I can remember.
