my first skate video (2021)
I wanted to make a film about growing up. I was trying to understand skating, and why people skated, and what the purpose was, and after years and years of thinking, I figured out there was none. Not a single, straight answer, I mean — there was no one reason people skated, and no one feeling that came out of it, just the promise you will get hurt. And it reminded me of my childhood dog, and it reminded me of death and leaving and moving on. And it reminded me of aging, learning, being angry, learning how to deal with being angry; but of togetherness and joy as well. It reminded me of forgiveness. And in the end it was so simple and so clear. I wanted to make a film about that.

So much average
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
