Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Live from Springfield, MAAttendance 6,358Your commentators are Jim Ross & Jerry LawlerLight Heavyweight TitleBrian Christopher Vs Taka MichinokuMichinoku wins the vacant title with a Michinoku Driver. This was a pretty good match and a fun moment. It moved at a consistent pace and even Brian Christopher looked good. Taka would hold the title until Christian defeated him in his debut.*** out of 5Los Boricuas Vs The Disciples Of ApocolaypseMiguel feigns a knee injury to give Los Boricuas the win. I was only half-paying attention to this. I'm not really into either team and it was really hard to get into. From what I saw, it was pretty mundane.* out of 5Boxing MatchMarc Mero Vs ButterbeanMero cheats throughout the match and low blows him to get disqualified. This was pointless stuff. The crowd didn't care either, as they chanted Sable throughout the match. Even Piper and Mr. T did better at it.N/RGoldust and Luna Vachon come out, hooked by chains, dressed in pink. He reads verses of "Green eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss. For some reason, this cracked me up. The Legion of Doom (Hawk, mainly) cut a hilarious promo about a booger. Tag Team TitlesThe New Age Outlaws (C) Vs The Legion of DoomThe Outlaws win by DQ after Henry Godwin randomly runs out and costs LOD the match by making Hawk go crazy. This was an OK match and better than it had any right to be, really. If you want me to be kind about it, that's the best I can give you.** out of 5Boot Camp MatchSgt. Slaughter Vs Hunter Hearst HelmsleySlaughter has the match won, but Chyna kicks Slaughter in the nuts, allowing Triple H to pedigree Slaughter on the chair for the win. Good god, this was a train wreck. Slaughter had no business being in the ring at this juncture and the entire match was just awful to watch. It's one of the worst matches I've seen in a long time.½*The Undertaker Vs Jeff JarrettKane interrupts the match and chokeslams Jarrett. Jarrett wins by DQ. Taker and Kane have a staredown, where Kane slaps The Undertaker. Undertaker stands pat. Jarrett tries to put the Figure Four on afterwards, but gets chokeslammed for his troubles. Well, this was a big opportunity for Jarrett to show some star power. He failed. This match consisted of Jarrett working over Taker's knee. It was pretty uneventful. The staredown between Taker and Kane was great stuff, though.*1/2 out of 5Mark Henry is interviewed in the crowd by Michael Cole.Intercontinental ChampionshipStone Cold (C) Vs The RockAustin wins with the Stunner. Well, I wouldn't call this a good match, but it was a fun brawl with some amazing spots. Austin backdropping D'Lo Brown onto his pickup truck was awesome, as was the stunner on top of the truck. This was only a taste of what Austin and The Rock could do. They were just getting started.**1/4 out of 5WWF ChampionshipShawn Michaels (C) Vs Ken ShamrockShamrock wins by DQ after Triple H and Chyna interfere. Owen Hart makes his return and saves the day, even busting Shawn's nose. Well, this was a decent, if inconsistent main event. It had flashes of brilliance at times. Shamrock was a little green and it showed. Michaels did his best to carry him. I completely forgot about Owen's return and it was a major mark out moment for me.**1/2 out of 5Austin's antics, Owen Hart's return, and the Kane and Taker stuff save this show from being a total failure. Overall, it was a wildly inconsistent show that both infuriated and excited me. If you watch it, expect major inconsistency.5.5/10

This was a very historical time in pro wrestling, it was just before this PPV that Bret Hart had the very public loss of his title at the Survivor Series PPV. Which basically WWF used to cultivate the Mr. McMahon character into one of the greatest heel characters in pro wrestling history. As far as the PPV card itself. It had the newly crowned WWF Champion Shawn Michaels defending his title against Ken Shamrock. The first ever PPV matchup between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, this time for the Intercontinental Title. Jeff Jarrett seemed a little out of place facing The Undertaker. Jarrett was never up to main event calibre in his WWF time and I'm not sure why he got the opportunity here. I'm guessing WWF was short on mid level to main event level talent at the time with Bret gone and taking British Bulldog with him and Owen Hart temporarily on leave before coming back. Surprisingly Triple H had a 12 minute match with Sgt. Slaughter who going into the PPV you'd have expected a quick squash match, considering Slaughter being long retired and HHH one of the younger stars of the company.Overall it was a decent PPV but by no means a great PPV. The most memorable match was the first Austin/Rock PPV match considering they'd eventually go onto going against each other 3 times at WM. Shawn Michaels vs. Ken Shamrock was a very short run of a feud since this was the only time Shamrock ever got a PPV main event slot.

In Your House:D-Generation-X took place a month after the controversial 1997 Survivor Series which left a bad taste in some of the fans mouths. However, this is an enjoyable card throughout. My two favourite matches were the Rock VS Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels VS Ken Shamrock. The Rock and Austin had a wild brawl in an Intercontinental title match and Michaels and Shamrock assembled a brilliant encounter. Michaels and Shamrock had great chemistry in the match and it's a pity that they didn't have a great feud afterwards but a few months later Michaels would wrestle his last match. All in all, a fantastic event which ended 1997 on an exciting note.
