The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

I think it is fascinating to think about what exactly is it that drives this technological evolution, and where is it going. The course of technological evolution will ultimately tell whether "man" is good or evil. I think there are a lot of techies who if they could would kill everyone else in the world (figuratively) and fill it with servants ... that seems to have been the dream of man to God ... the ultimate incarnation of evil, and these techies pursue this unconsciously without ever really thinking that it is not going to be them, and the results of this are going to be bad for most people. How is it that this mind, this meme, seems to dominate, why can't thinkers like the old professor here get through to people how critical this may be to them and the future of their families at some point ... do people just not really care? Should we care? Here is Ray Kurzweil who has brought to life many great products, but who is not this future snake oil sale man talking about backing yourself up in case you are destroyed so you can reload and reboot ... and people buy into this unquestioningly. It is amazing. Or the military aspects of creating weapons like the terminator, in fact better - and real.I have to admit, I'd like to live forever but I don't want a lot of these kind of people around to dehumanize everyone as it seems is happening with technology - the exact opposite of what they claim. The unconscious motivation/meme of technology is always to gain military power over others and cheat them out of their part of life ... and I think that is the meme that we must overcome if we are to become human .... because as it is not, being human is something we only seem to play and and pretend to do to get others to be near us at all because we need things. When the technological revolution comes along, I think we will be surprised that the end game is going to be like the end game of a Monopoly game, just one rather unappealing megalomaniac will win at the expense of everyone else ... so why are we all allowing this game to continue?Maybe we are just too stupid ... but one good thing is that this documentary gives us a bit of hint or clue. I doubt many will see it! ;-) 10/10.
