Too much of everything
Good concept, poorly executed.
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
What does U.N.I.T. do when Doctor Who is not around? According to the Who series, U.N.I.T. has been around since at least the 1970's, is staffed by heavily armed members of the international militarizes and has a headquarters in Geneva along with bases all over the world. This short series focuses on one incidence, a breakout of a new Auton nest on Earth, repelled by a special U.N.I.T. scientific response team and soldiers. These shows provided a solid premise for series that was never to be. I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in the "deep history" of the Doctor Who universe.
It may not be the most original story in the world, this is essentially Alien in a warehouse, but Auton represents the next development for low budget Doctor Who spin offs. The first in a trilogy, Nick Briggs and BBV have put together a quality cast and an intriguing story which goes beyond fan fiction and becomes a real independent film.I urge all sci-fi fans in general to seek out this movie, then see the very impressive sequel.
