First of all, the title does not refer to someone sentenced to jail. It is a movie about 6 lifetime friends who are all hitting the big `3-0' together during the same year. Each one looks inside themselves to see where has my life gone and what am I going to do with my future. Actually, what I saw was a black Seinfeld comedy. Tracy Morgan, who is one of the main characters, is a struggling comedian just like Jerry Seinfeld. He gives his opinion of what women want in a man in one of his comedy routines. Melissa De Sousa is looking for a man before time runs out. She is just like Elaine in Seinfeld. I don't remember the big problem with turning thirty, however, all the characters in this movie can show you what they are, such as not having fame, riches, a husband, a thin body, and staying young. Their life stories are probably repeated many times around the world.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

This movie is absolutely hilarious and provides a in-dept view of the emotional and personal crisis that everyone experiences as they grow older. It's characters cover a wide spectrum of personalities and careers that most of us can relate too. Often times our expectations of the future are never realize when we get to "our future". Accepting one's stage in life is a really emotional crisis, especially when it falls short of what we thought we would be doing or would have accomplished at certain stages in life. All this while laughing heartily at Tracy Morgan and Allen Payne, Debbie DeSouza, Erika Alexander, Kadeem Hardison, etc. Excellent movie and aside from one mature sexual scene involving Tracy Morgan(which was actually more comedic in nature) it is free of the usual over-the-top sexual content and lustful behaviors that generally describe young adults.

I watched this with fairly low expectations, as I had never heard of it. However, it is a very poignant, intelligent and sometimes very funny. Director/writer Vanessa Middleton, has simply not found her due. I would like to see more from this very talented director/writer, and it's a shame it is not already out there. It is an interwoven cast of characters, each going through the trials and tribulations of crossing the ever-creeky and creepy bridge to thirty. The dialogue is smart, and fresh for a change. The characters are colorful, and how it starts w/ one character's 30th, and ends a year later on her 31st, was very well-done, as it wrapped IT ALL UP VERY NICELY!!

My boyfriend and I seen this movie about six months ago with low expectations....... and we were thoroughly surprised. We both enjoyed this movie and wondered why no one has talked about it before. This is a movie that has been really slept on by critics and audiences. I personally think it was not featured in the theaters because it did not have any of the "huge" Hollywood Black actors. However, much of the cast has been seen on TV shows or movies before. In fact about half of the cast is not new to the movie industry. What Iliked about the film was that it did not have any of the "typical" Black stereotypes. It was strictly a comedy-romance that centered on a group of friends for a year. We need more movies like this where there is a mostly Black cast but we are not throwing race jokes around all the time.
