Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Fantastic!
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
If you were to compare it to other versions, this Golden Films animation will be sunk. As a standalone it is not too bad, a little better than Jetlag's version anyway. The character designs are rather stiff, the dialogue does have moments of corniness, some of the story felt rushed to me(mainly because of the short length) and Shere Kahn's voice seemed over-done. However, the backgrounds are suitably colourful, the dialogue also has moments of wit and the story will appeal more to the main target audience than Jetlag's version and is sweet on its own merits. The music is catchy enough as well, if not as much as Disney's, the characters are quite likable and the voice work from Jim Cummings and Jeannie Ellias is good. All in all, nothing great and nowhere near the best version but a decent enough animation on its own terms. 6/10 Bethany Cox
